Zusammenfassung: | This is the first major study of Marx and the Young Hegelians in twenty years. The book offers a new interpretation of Marx's early development, the political dimension of Young Hegelianism, and that movement's relationship to political and intellectual currents in early nineteenth-century Germany. Warren Breckman challenges the orthodox distinction drawn between the exclusively religious concerns of Hegelians in the 1830s and the sociopolitical preoccupations of the 1840s. He shows that there are inextricable connections between the theological, political and social discourses of the Hegelians in the 1830s. The book draws together an account of major figures such as Feuerbach and Marx, with discussions of lesser-known but significant figures such as Eduard Gans, August Cieszkowski, Moses Hess, F. W. J. Schelling as well as such movements as French Saint-Simonianism and 'positive philosophy'. Wide-ranging in scope and synthetic in approach, this is an important book for historians of philosophy, theology, political theory and nineteenth-century ideas |

At the End of Idealism: From "Nihilism" to "Positive Philosophy" -- 2. The Transcendent Sovereign and the Political Theology of Restoration -- 3. Ludwig Feuerbach and Christian Civil Society -- 4. The Social and Political Discourse of Personality, 1835-1840 -- 5. Pantheism, Social Question, and the Third Age -- 6. Arnold Ruge: Radical Democracy and the Politics of Personhood, 1838-1843 -- 7. Karl Marx: From Social Republicanism to Communism This is the first major study of Marx and the Young Hegelians in twenty years. Wide-ranging in scope and synthetic in approach, this is an important book for historians of philosophy, theology, political theory and nineteenth-century ideas Marx, Karl / 1818-1883 Hegel, Georg Wilhelm Friedrich / 1770-1831 / Influence Hegel, Georg Wilhelm Friedrich 1770-1831 (DE-588)118547739 gnd rswk-swf Marx, Karl 1818-1883 (DE-588)118578537 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1800-1900 Geschichte 1800-1850 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte Philosophie Politische Wissenschaft Sozialwissenschaften Philosophy, German / 19th century Political science / Philosophy / History / 19th century Social sciences / Philosophy / History / 19th century Philosophie (DE-588)4045791-6 gnd rswk-swf Sozialphilosophie (DE-588)4055876-9 gnd rswk-swf Linkshegelianer (DE-588)4074251-9 gnd rswk-swf Deutschland (DE-588)4011882-4 gnd rswk-swf 1\p (DE-588)4113937-9 Hochschulschrift gnd-content Marx, Karl 1818-1883 (DE-588)118578537 p Linkshegelianer (DE-588)4074251-9 s Sozialphilosophie (DE-588)4055876-9 s 2\p DE-604 Deutschland (DE-588)4011882-4 g Philosophie (DE-588)4045791-6 s Geschichte 1800-1850 z 3\p DE-604 Hegel, Georg Wilhelm Friedrich 1770-1831 (DE-588)118547739 p 4\p DE-604 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-00380-3 Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-0-521-62440-4 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511624704 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 4\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
