Zusammenfassung: | Hermann von Helmholtz (1821–94) was a leading scientist who made important contributions to physiology, psychology, physics, philosophy and early neuroscience. Following his foundational work in ophthalmics during the 1850s, he became Professor of Physiology at Heidelberg and, in 1863, published On the Sensations of Tone. This investigation into the physical theory of music remains a central text for the study of physiological acoustics and aesthetics. In it, Helmholtz applies physics, anatomy and physiology. He explains how tones are built from a base tone with upper partial tones, and his later discussions on consonance and musical scales develop this theory and discuss how the ear perceives these tones. His work on consonance and dissonance was of particular interest to composers and musicologists well into the twentieth century. This English translation, published in 1875 from the third German edition, retains the original's straightforward language, making this classic work accessible to non-specialists |

Ellis 3rd ed Cambridge Cambridge University Press 1875 1 online resource (854 pages) txt rdacontent c rdamedia cr rdacarrier Cambridge library collection. Music Title from publisher's bibliographic system (viewed on 05 Oct 2015) Hermann von Helmholtz (1821–94) was a leading scientist who made important contributions to physiology, psychology, physics, philosophy and early neuroscience. This English translation, published in 1875 from the third German edition, retains the original's straightforward language, making this classic work accessible to non-specialists Geschichte 1862 gnd rswk-swf Physikalische Theorie (DE-588)4174609-0 gnd rswk-swf Musikwahrnehmung (DE-588)4126097-1 gnd rswk-swf Lautwahrnehmung (DE-588)4125741-8 gnd rswk-swf Tonerzeugung (DE-588)4185668-5 gnd rswk-swf Physiologie (DE-588)4045981-0 gnd rswk-swf Tonhöhenwahrnehmung (DE-588)4185683-1 gnd rswk-swf Akustik (DE-588)4000988-9 gnd rswk-swf Musik (DE-588)4040802-4 gnd rswk-swf Ton Akustik (DE-588)4185645-4 gnd rswk-swf Musikalische Akustik (DE-588)4123807-2 gnd rswk-swf 1\p (DE-588)4135952-5 Quelle gnd-content Musik (DE-588)4040802-4 s Akustik (DE-588)4000988-9 s Geschichte 1862 z 2\p DE-604 Musikalische Akustik (DE-588)4123807-2 s Physiologie (DE-588)4045981-0 s 3\p DE-604 Tonerzeugung (DE-588)4185668-5 s 4\p DE-604 Ton Akustik (DE-588)4185645-4 s 5\p DE-604 6\p DE-604 Physikalische Theorie (DE-588)4174609-0 s 7\p DE-604 Musikwahrnehmung (DE-588)4126097-1 s 8\p DE-604 Lautwahrnehmung (DE-588)4125741-8 s 9\p DE-604 Tonhöhenwahrnehmung (DE-588)4185683-1 s 10\p DE-604 Ellis, Alexander J. trl Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-1-108-00177-9 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9780511701801 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 4\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 5\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 6\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 7\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 8\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 9\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 10\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
