Zusammenfassung: | "Coming of age in the 1960s, the photographer Danny Lyon (b. 1942) distinguished himself with work that emphasized intimate social engagement. In 1962 Lyon traveled to the segregated South to photograph the civil rights movement. Subsequent projects on biker culture, the demolition and redevelopment of lower Manhattan, and the Texas prison system, and more recently on the Occupy movement and the vanishing culture in China's booming Shanxi Province, share Lyon's signature immersive approach and his commitment to social and political issues that concern those on the margins of society. Lyon's photography is paralleled by his work as a filmmaker and a writer. Danny Lyon: Message to the Future is the first in-depth examination of this leading figure in American photography and film, and the first publication to present his influential bodies of work in all media in their full context. Lead essayists Julian Cox and Elisabeth Sussman provide an account of Lyon's five-decade career. Alexander Nemerov writes about Lyon's work in Knoxville, Tennessee; Ed Halter assesses the artist's films; Danica Willard Sachs evaluates his photomontages; and Julian Cox interviews Alan Rinzler about his role in publishing Lyon's earliest works. With extensive back matter and illustrations, this publication will be the most comprehensive account of this influential artist's work" |

With extensive back matter and illustrations, this publication will be the most comprehensive account of this influential artist's work" Lyon, Danny / Criticism and interpretation Lyon, Danny 1942- (DE-588)11899770X gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1962-2009 gnd rswk-swf Gesellschaft Documentary photography Photography, Artistic Photography / Social aspects Fotografie (DE-588)4045895-7 gnd rswk-swf Dokumentarfotografie (DE-588)4142019-6 gnd rswk-swf (DE-588)4135467-9 Ausstellungskatalog Whitney Museum of American Art 17.06.2016-25.09.2016 New York, NY gnd-content (DE-588)4135467-9 Ausstellungskatalog De Young Museum 05.11.2016-12.03.2017 San Francisco, Calif. gnd-content (DE-588)4135467-9 Ausstellungskatalog Fotomuseum Winterthur 20.05.2017-27.08.2017 Winterthur gnd-content (DE-588)4135467-9 Ausstellungskatalog C/O Berlin Foundation 15.09.2017-10.12.2017 Berlin gnd-content Lyon, Danny 1942- (DE-588)11899770X p Fotografie (DE-588)4045895-7 s Dokumentarfotografie (DE-588)4142019-6 s Geschichte 1962-2009 z DE-604 Cox, Julian (DE-588)188395512 wat Sussman, Elisabeth 1939- (DE-588)114882037 wat Nemerov, Alexander 1963- (DE-588)143866001 wat Halter, Ed 19XX- (DE-588)1026213649 wat Rinzler, Alan wat Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco (DE-588)1023484-6 isb Whitney Museum of American Art (DE-588)1019165-3 his De Young Museum (DE-588)610242-6 his Fotomuseum Winterthur (DE-588)5081895-8 his C/O Berlin Foundation (DE-588)1066658676 his V:DE-576;B:DE-14 application/pdf http://swbplus.bsz-bw.de/bsz473853426inh.htm Inhaltsverzeichnis SWB Datenaustausch application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=029117455&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis |
