Zusammenfassung: | Stone tool analysis relies on a strong background in analytical and methodological techniques. However, lithic technological analysis has not been well integrated with a theoretically informed approach to understanding how humans procured, made, and used stone tools. Evolutionary theory has great potential to fill this gap. This collection of essays brings together several different evolutionary perspectives to demonstrate how lithic technological systems are a by-product of human behavior. The essays cover a range of topics, including human behavioral ecology, cultural transmission, phylogenetic analysis, risk management, macroevolution, dual inheritance theory, cladistics, central place foraging, costly signaling, selection, drift, and various applications of evolutionary ecology |

What Steward got right : technology, work organization, and cultural evolution / Nathan E. Stevens -- 15. Evolution of the slate tool industry at Bridge River, British Columbia / Anna M. Prentiss, Nathan Goodale, Lucille E. Harris and Nicole Crossland Stone tool analysis relies on a strong background in analytical and methodological techniques. The essays cover a range of topics, including human behavioral ecology, cultural transmission, phylogenetic analysis, risk management, macroevolution, dual inheritance theory, cladistics, central place foraging, costly signaling, selection, drift, and various applications of evolutionary ecology Geschichte Philosophie Stone implements / Analysis / Congresses Tools, Prehistoric / Analysis Human evolution / Philosophy Social archaeology Human behavior / History Human ecology / History Steingerät (DE-588)4057175-0 gnd rswk-swf Mensch (DE-588)4038639-9 gnd rswk-swf Evolution (DE-588)4071050-6 gnd rswk-swf Kulturwandel (DE-588)4033596-3 gnd rswk-swf (DE-588)1071861417 Konferenzschrift gnd-content Steingerät (DE-588)4057175-0 s Mensch (DE-588)4038639-9 s Evolution (DE-588)4071050-6 s Kulturwandel (DE-588)4033596-3 s 1\p DE-604 Goodale, Nathan 1977- edt Andrefsky, William 1955- edt Society for American Archaeology issuing body (74th 2009 Annual Meeting oth Erscheint auch als Druckausgabe 978-1-107-02646-9 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9781139207775 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
