Zusammenfassung: | Russian literature has a reputation for gloomy texts, especially during the late nineteenth century. This volume argues that a 'fin-de-siècle' mood informed Russian literature long before the chronological end of the nineteenth century, in ways that had significant impact on the development of Russian realism. Some chapters consider ideas more readily associated with fin-de-siècle Europe such as degeneration theory, biodeterminism, Freudian psychoanalysis or apocalypticism alongside earlier Russian realist texts by writers such as Turgenev, Dostoevsky or Tolstoy. Other chapters explore the changes that realism underwent as modernism emerged, examining later nineteenth-century or early twentieth-century texts in the context of the earlier realist tradition or their own cultural moment. Overall, a team of emerging and established scholars of Russian literature and culture present a wide range of creative and insightful readings that shed new light on later realism in all its manifestations |

Overall, a team of emerging and established scholars of Russian literature and culture present a wide range of creative and insightful readings that shed new light on later realism in all its manifestations Geschichte 1800-1900 Geschichte gnd rswk-swf Russian literature / 19th century / History and criticism Realism in literature Decadence in literature Russisch (DE-588)4051038-4 gnd rswk-swf Realismus (DE-588)4048680-1 gnd rswk-swf Dekadenzliteratur (DE-588)4070266-2 gnd rswk-swf 1\p (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Russisch (DE-588)4051038-4 s Realismus (DE-588)4048680-1 s Dekadenzliteratur (DE-588)4070266-2 s Geschichte z 2\p DE-604 Bowers, Katherine (DE-588)1074415965 edt Kokobobo, Ani (DE-588)1155603133 edt Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe 978-1-107-07321-0 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe 978-1-107-42307-7 https://doi.org/10.1017/CBO9781139683449 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
