ABSTRACT

SECTION 1. RELIGION IN CONTEMPORARY
SOCIAL AND CULTURAL SPACE
Beskov A.A. (Nizhniy Novgorod). Some Peculiarities of Russian Neo-
Paganism Representation in the Russian Press. The article presents the data
obtained as a result of content analysis of the Russian press reports about Rus-
sian Neo-Paganism in the period from 2002 to 2014. The study has shown that
there is a negative information background around this phenomenon. The infor-
mation sources used by journalists in describing this phenomenon too subjective
in most cases.

Bogdanova O.A. (Rostov-on-Don). The Russian Orthodox Church in Social
and Cultural Space of Modern Russia. The article examines the question of
why the Russian Orthodox Church hasn’t been able to become the spiritual lead-
er in modem Russia despite the state full support. It also proves that the funda-
mental factor hindering the increase of its influence in Russian society, is that the
basic principles of Orthodoxy, such as criticism of wealth pursuit as the main
genesis purpose and the rejection to perceive freedom as self-will, in many ways
set the opposite to the principles of modem Russian culture in which wealth is
being dominating and freedom is understood as a boundless self-assertion of the
individual.

Burlutskiy A.N. (Rostov-on-Don). “Moscow Islamic Declaration” as an Ap-
peal to Peace and to a Dialog among Cultures. In Moscow, May 26, 2012 was
the first in Russia International Islamic Conference “Islamic doctrine against rad-
icalism”. At the conference discussed issues of Jihad, Takfir, caliphate. The re-
sult of the conference was “Moscow Islamic Declaration”. Declaration under
traditional Islam condemns extremism, terrorism and regulates religious life of
believers.

Danakari R.A. (Volgograd), Mobili R.B. (Baku, Azerbaïdjan). The Ethnic
and Religious Factors of Integration of Modern Social and Cultural Space.

The most important question for any country, say the authors, is the consolida-
tion and integration of modem and multi-ethnic and multi-religious society, the
formation of a common social and cultural space. The processes of globalization
and internationalization, "meeting” of different cultures and civilizations form
not only a new multicultural view of the world, but also problematize the issues
of joint life of nations. Ethnic and religious factors may be important integrating
factor for the vast majority of people on Earth. This is the problem of preserving
peace in the world, to ensure harmony with nature and sustainable development
of society, the strengthening of cohesion and trust among nations. According to
the authors, the difference between the philosophical and spiritual and moral
foundations, values, ideals, attitudes and norms does not create obstacles to the
representatives of different religions and ethnic groupsbeing together. Unity
comes to finding the meaning of life and the responsibility of people before eter-
nity God or the Almighty; the fate and destiny of man, his role and place in the
world.

Zygmout A.L (Moscow), Modern Russian Parish Milieu as a “Sacrificial
Crisis” Community. The report considers some aspects of contemporary Rus-
sian parish milieu's discourse and practices, which allow to define it as a “sa-
crificial crisis” subculture (in terms of René Girard). The author describes the ex-
traordinary dynamics of the images of an “enemy”, wars and catastrophes in
communities' discourse as the forming factor of the context of its existence as
one of “violence totality”. The following phenomena are drawn as characteristics
of the crisis situation: the changed perception of historic time, actual eschatolog-
ical expectations, erosion of the traditional and rational authority's systems, as
well as search for the new forms of social organization. In conclusion the author
conceptualizes the Seal of the Antichrist as an image of pure violence and points
at its direct link with the dynamics of violence in religious consciousness.

Ovcharenko D.L. (Rostov-on-Don). The Legislative Defense of Culture-
Forming Religion of the Region. The article is devoted to the urgent problems
of national identity preservation and legislative defense of culture-forming reli-
gion in the content of interethnic, intercultural and interreligious dialogue.

Raevsky A.N. (Rostov-on-Don). A Boundary between Development and
Stagnation of Non-Traditional Religions in Russia - 1997. The article consid-
ers the possibility of periodization of the history of new religious movements in
modem Russia and offers the allocation scheme of two periods: of development
and of stagnation. The changes in church-state relations, emergence of anti-cult

literature, the beginning a series of the court cases against new religious move-
ments invited to mark 1997 as the dividing line between the two periods.

Chelovenko A.S. (Orel). The Human Rights Concept of the Russian Ortho-
dox Church and Peculiarities of Its Realization in the Modern Society. The
article is devoted to the human rights concept of the Russian Orthodox Church.
The social and cultural conditions of its emergence as well as contradictions
connected with cultural and civilized challenges of the times are analyzed in the
article. The main directions of human rights activity stated in "Fundamentals of
Russian Orthodox Church about dignity, freedom and human rights" are singled
out. The possibilities of the human rights concept realization are considered by
the example of modem initiatives of Russian Orthodox Church concerning the
achievement of world outlook dialogue, the essence of which is world outlook
synthesis of the values and ideas required for attainment in modem Russia of the
social ideal peculiar to all history of the Russian state.

SECTION 2. THE RELIGIOUS AND PARA-RELIGIOUS PHENOMENA
IN PHILOSOPHICAL AND HISTORICAL STUDIES
Agapova E.A., Usenko L.V. (Rostov-on-Don). On the Problem of the Forma-
tion of Religious Censorship in Russia. The guarding function of the censor-
ship was in providing stability of the society due to taking the information with
undesirable effect away from the press. The most significant punishment is set
for the things which are against ideas and ideals of the authorities, the things
which may reduce the power of the authorities or even absolutely deprive the au-
thorities of the power.

Arinin E.I. (Vladimir). Orthodoxy as a Phenomenon of Culture and the
Problems of Interpretation of It. Numerous discussion about Orthodoxy in
science and the media are inextricably linked with the so-called “The paradox of
the observer” (N. Luhmann), the inability to observe their own observation. In
this context, it is important to consider some of the paradoxes that arise in the
analysis of a particular religious identity “language confessions” / “terms of reli-
gious studies”, “imaginary” / “real”, “external” / “internal”, “normative” / “de-
viant”, “center” / “marginal”, “the self-proclaimed” / “recognized”, etc.

Arsenyeva V.L. (Rostov-on-Don). Color in Taosist Alchemy and in Modern
Feng Shiii. Color played the noted role in some myths of Old Chine culture.
These myths were translated to Confucianism and Taosism, but they gave the
important evolution and transformations in Taosist alchemy. The mystic and
magic symbolism of the Taosist doctrine of color is continued in Feng Shui.

Grankova M.M. (Krasnodar). The Idea of Philosophy of Religion in A. Lo-
sev’s Works. This article is dedicated to the conception of philosophy of reli-
gion and evolution in Aleksey Losev’s scientific views. The philosophic method,
which being used by A. Losev for uncovering basic meanings is researched. The
most significant works are examined, basic positions in it Losev’s conception is
analyzed, and their correlation is dedicated. On the basis of the research, the the-
sis about the Neoplatonism, the antique classic, the philosophy of the German
classical idealism and the Vladimir Solovyov’s metaphysics religious conscious-
ness were confirmed.

Zolotukhina-Abolina E.V. (Rostov-on-Don). “Para-Religious World Out-
look”: the Practices of Power. The article examines specificity of para-religious
views of practical direction. The author thinks that now in our devoid of sacrality
epoche the most popular doctrines are acknowledging the presence of the tran-
scendent in the world but don’t concretizing it in images of any religion or its
cult. These doctrines in many points are opposed to the traditional Christianity
with its powerful God-Father and prayer turned to Him. Para-religious ideas with
its pathos of the “positive thought” brings the force inwards the personality that
becomes a micro-demiurge, creator of his own life and its circonstances. This
component successfully inscribes these systems into the daily occurrence of the
post-industrial society and gives them popularity.

Keleberda N.G. (Rostov-on-Don). Anthropological Measurement of a Phe-
nomenon "Wonderful” in Spiritual Practice of Christianity (on the Example
of an Orthodox Icon). In this article the author considers a concept "wonderM"
through a prism of the concept "wonder-working image" on the example of a
phenomenon of an orthodox icon. The “wonder-workingness” of an image is
caused by the very nature of an icon which as if violently comiects two plans of
life: phenomenon and noumenon.

Mokrousov K.V. (Rostov-on-Don). Spirituality in the Age of the State
Church: the Experience of St. Tikhon of Zadonsk». An attempt is made to
show the example of St. Tikhon, the effectiveness and efficiency of Orthodox
spiritual tradition in Russia in the era of the state of the Church (established
churches). Refuted the opinion about the fading and disappearance of Orthodox
spirituality in the period under review (18th century). Using the concepts of «con-
templation of God» and «prayer of the mind» describes the spiritual path of Or-
thodox Saints in the person of St. Tikhon. The author is invited to consider these
factors as shown approval.

Orlenko O.A. (Rostov-on-Don). A Miracle of Lifetime Resurrection Accord-
ing to PhUosophy of P.A. Florenskiy. This article explores the concept of resur-
rection presented in philosophy of P.A. Florenskiy. Four types of the miracle of
resurrection, with its own unique features, are identified and described in the ar-
ticle based on the analysis of several works of Florenskiy. The article points
which of the following types of resurrection P.A. Florenskiy described as the
most important. Features of lifetime resurrection are analysed; it allows to dis-
tinguish the miracle of lifetime resurrection from other types of resurrection.

Pendyurina L.P. (Rostov-on-Don). The Peculiarities of the Hindu Ashrams
Evolution. The evolution of the Hindu ashrams and the development of their
religious and philosophical views are considered in the article. It is concluded
that the ideas of selfless devotion to the way of synthesis of spirit and matter, so-
cial service, persistent self-improvement, which were an essence of the old and
reformer’s ashrams, evolve into the simpified versions of some precepts and
dogmas of Hinduism, comprehension of which is possible to every individual.

Petrova K.Yu. (Saratov). Occultism and social dynamics. Article is devoted
to the analysis of an occultism in the modem world. In research is compared the
magic, religion and science, are studied the reasons of popularity of an occultism
in the modem world. The central question is a question of interrelation of an oc-
cultism with the political and social phenomena. The principles of political and
magic thinking are compared, interest in an occultism depending on a social sta-
tus of the specific individual is analyzed. The parallel between historical events
and popularity of esoterics is drawn, the hypothesis of possibility of forecasting
of political dynamics through popularity of occult doctrines in society is created.

Subbotin A.I. (Rostov-on-Don). The Contemporary Forms of the Construct-
ing of the Science-Religion Myths. The paper analyses a variant of synthesis of
the science and religion - neurotheology - on the base of physiology of the
changed states of consciousness. Authors of this synthesis attempt to create it on
basis of metaphorical approach and mystic experiences, which consist in reli-
gions. They are based on a concept of the megatheology absolute in this attempt.
This attempt is pseudo-scientific speculation, creating a modem science-religion
myth.

SECTION 3. TEACHING RELIGIOUS KNOWLEDGE
IN MODERN RUSSIAN EDUCATION
Astapov S.N. (Rostov-on-Don). Theology in Modern Russian University: the
Illusions, the Realia, the Perspectives. The article is devoted to analysis of the
place of theology as a direction of the state university education of Russia. It is
stated that during more than 10 years of presence of theology in universities nei-
ther the university education was clericalized nor theology became a non-
confessional discipline. The perspectives of theology in university are outlined in
the article.

Voloshin V.V. (Pskov). The Theory of Classification in Religious Studies:
Cognitive Potential and Restrictions (in Terms of the Key Concept). In the
context of the classification theory, problematic spheres of the typologies of the
concept “religion” are analyzed: 1) identification of criteria; 2) conformity with
conventional formal-logical requirements; 3) common errors. The author argues
in favour of the supposition, that it is possible to speak only about relative
strictness of the given concept’s volume division. Owing to intensional richness
and extensional indefiniteness of the concept “religion” 1) it is difficult to dis-
cover its essential signs; 2) the regulations of classifying do not perform their
functions. Only a loose version of classifying is considered to be adequate. The
existing typologies do not possess attributes of natural classification. They are
relative, artificial and prescription, so they do not claim to have heuristic and
diagnostic status. It is concluded, that the given logical operation has consider-
able restrictions in religious studies, and its level of cognitive potential appears
to be low. Taking into account that the object should be mastered as much as
possible, there are recommended spatio-temporal localizations and consecutive
approaches based on appellations to signs, which are essential in certain terms.

Culture” at School: Russian Realia and Perspectives. This article discusses
the problems of the teaching “The fundamentals of the Orthodox culture” in the
Russian schools from a religious point of view. The article concludes that the
problem of a balance in the content of this school discipline between the reli-
gious beliefs and the cultural studies of the religious tradition can not be settled
in the secular society.
