Zusammenfassung: | "John Cosin (1595-1672) was a leading cleric in seventeenth-century England who rode the changing tides of preference under James I and Charles I, exile during the Interregnum, becoming Bishop of Durham at the Restoration. Inspired by the architecture of Dr. Caius at his undergraduate college in Cambridge, Cosin was encouraged to value the architecture of the English Church by his patron Richard Neile. Under Bishop Neile, Cosin became a prebend of Durham Cathedral and Rector of Brancepeth in the Bishopric of Durham during the 1620s, as well as Master of Peterhouse and Vice Chancellor at Cambridge University during the 1630s. Cosin spent the years 1643 to 1659 in exile in Paris before returning to become Bishop of Durham in 1660 till his death in 1672. Cosin was actively involved in church architecture, fulfilling the "beauty of holiness" agenda of the English Arminian clergy, from the 1620s through to the 1670s."-- |

Cosin was actively involved in church architecture, fulfilling the "beauty of holiness" agenda of the English Arminian clergy, from the 1620s through to the 1670s."-- Cosin, John / 1594-1672 Cosin, John / 1594-1672 fast Cosin, John 1594-1672 (DE-588)120456923 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1600-1700 Church architecture / England / Cambridge / History / 17th century Church architecture / England / Durham / History / 17th century Church buildings / England / Cambridge / History / 17th century Church buildings / England / Durham / History / 17th century Architecture, Renaissance / England / Cambridge Architecture, Renaissance / England / Durham Architecture, Renaissance fast Buildings fast Church architecture fast Church buildings fast Architektur Geschichte Kirchengeschichte Renaissance (DE-588)4049450-0 gnd rswk-swf Kirchenbau (DE-588)4073436-5 gnd rswk-swf Architektur (DE-588)4002851-3 gnd rswk-swf Mäzen (DE-588)7607862-0 gnd rswk-swf Cambridge (England) / Buildings, structures, etc / History / 17th century Durham (England) / Buildings, structures, etc / History / 17th century Cambridge (England) / Church history / 17th century Durham (England) / Church history / 17th century England / Cambridge fast England / Durham fast England (DE-588)4014770-8 gnd rswk-swf Cosin, John 1594-1672 (DE-588)120456923 p Mäzen (DE-588)7607862-0 s DE-604 England (DE-588)4014770-8 g Architektur (DE-588)4002851-3 s Kirchenbau (DE-588)4073436-5 s Renaissance (DE-588)4049450-0 s Durham medieval and Renaissance monographs and essays 4 (DE-604)BV036516266 4 SWB Datenaustausch application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=029000582&sequence=000001&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis |
