ABSTRACT
By its essence, SEMIOTICS is the fundamental science dealing
with the study of symbols, signs determined in a sensorial way and
their spiritual connection. The earliest sources, on a lasting support
(stone, bone, horn, pottery, metal, textiles, doughs, religious
practices, a.s.o.), mark the limits of the Carpathian Area, viewed as
a spiritual centre, a cultic nucleus, as proved by pieces of evidences
found throughout all stages of superposed cultures and civilizations.
Original signs existing today are the groundwork of semiotic
sciences and they sanction the syntagm ROMANIAN
SEMIOTICS.
Semiotics provides prospects to analyse the anthropological
conditions of the evolution of the spiritually-endowed man. The
way thinking, judgement, power of discernment, abstractization
and generalization evolve is materialized on a semiotic support,
contributing important evidence to interdisciplinary research.
As far back as the early Stone Age, two categories occurred,
expressing the essential general meanings and relations of the
concentrated image of reality subjects and processes: the primary
symbol and the explicit derivatives of the symbol. Thus, throughout
millennia, the segment of the curve and the segment of the straight
line gave birth to primary symbols (the volute, the circle, the
segment of the straight line). From these there evolved signs meant
to emphasize the ideational content of the source-symbols.
The primary symbols created on a cultic background have
proliferated in multifarious forms, to facilitate the understanding of
the ideational content. They turned into ideograms with an
intangible hieratic content. The multitude of “written” ideograms
has delineated the Carpathian Area as the spiritual epicentre of
Ancient Europe.
At the time of the early religious beliefs, the symbol of the Sun
occured as a sign of an almighty unique abstract entity. The upper
Carpathian New Stone Age was marked by the generalization of
the workship of the Sun, which reached a climax. Since then and up

to the late Iron Age, Carpathian people made prayers to Heaven,
during great assemblies held at the time of the equinox in
megalithic sanctuaries and temples, under the guidance of the
Great Priestess and the of the Great Priest. All these performances
in man’s cultic evolution were recorded by symbols - ideograms -
in the chronicle of the Carpathian civilisations.
Throughout past ages, the symbol was the structure used in the
ritual of the various religious practices. It was hope and incentive in
the spiritual dialogue with the powers of Heaven.
In the upper New Stone Age, ideograms were strengthened,
under the stimulus of Sun workship. In the Bronze Age, ideograms
started being read in sets. In the Dacian Iron Age, the predicate was
invented, as well as the phoneme, the letter, the rumming writing.
Semiotics has the power to establish the age of every letter. It may
thus be proved that the common alphabet is made up of signs
created more than 7-5 millennia ago, under the incentive of Sun
workship.
Semiotics provides the possibility to have a retrological view of
the cultures and civilizations which have erected man’s planetary
cultic ziggurat. It provides all fundamental sciences visible and
tangible material evidence, subtly loaded with ideas.
The repertory of symbols treasures invaluable assets. Only
Semiotics is able to set them in order and to decypher their
ideational content.
Every centre or collection of such values is in se and should be
a complex reservation, a museum with protected exhibits, enjoying
a special status.
