Stanislaw Wiechowicz „...present, though invisible...
The article is an overview of Stanislaw Wiechowicz’s life and work. The author
investigates main lines of Wiechowicz’s activity: as composer, teacher,
music writer and promotor. The text concludes with some observations on the
composers personality, indicating the reasons for the respect of people who
had an opportunity to meet him.

Stanislaw Wiechowicz’s activity in Poznan (1921-1939)
The text presents the artistic, pedagogical and organisational activity
of Stanislaw Wiechowicz during his stay in Poznan (1921-1939). Wiechowicz’s
teaching methods are discussed, as well as his role in the curriculum development
of the Poznan conservatoire. His achievements in music culture popularisation
and music journalism along with an overview of his conducting activity are
also presented.

Writings of Stanislaw Wiechowicz in the context of the music culture
development in Poland
The article presents an extended overview of Wiechowicz’s activity as a music
journalist and reviewer. Various types of writings are analysed in the text and
Wiechowicz’s views on the role and place of music in culture development are
discussed. The text concludes with some observations on the correspondence
and interactions of creative activity, teaching, writing, organising and music
policy development in Wiechowicz’s professional life.

Stanislaw Wiechowicz - List do Marc Chagalla (Letter to Marc Chagall).
In the sphere of the holocaust themes
The article presents an analysis of List do Marc Chagalla {Letter to Marc
Chagall), dramatic rapsody for solo voices, reciters, mixed choir and symphony
orchestra (1961). The composition is regarded as one of the most significant
in the composer’s output, not only for its artistic merit, but also for the impor-
tance of the subject, as a testimony of tragic experiences of the generation.

Stanislaw Wiechowicz’s Mazurek for violin and piano in the context
of the dance genre of the Polish violin miniature in the 19th and the beginning
of the 20th century. Didactic function
This text focuses on the use of Mazurek for violin and piano in the violin
teaching. Presented in the wide context of violin miniature of the late 19th and
early 20th century, the specifics of Mazurek are discussed and its didactic role
is characterised.

renewal of church music
The article presents religious compositions of Stanislaw Wiechowicz with
a reflection on the reform of church music and the meaning of the Cecilian
Movement for the church music composing and performance. A brief analysis
of religious works of Wiechowicz is placed in the context of the composer’s
artistic standpoint.

The Krakow Concept of Music Education in theory and pedagogical praxis
The role and development of the Krakow Concept of Music Education are
presented in this article. The fundamentals of the method of music education
initiated by Zofia Burowska and further developed by the faculty of the Academy
of Music in Krakow are discussed, as well as the results of the research on the
effectiveness of those methods.

Modern methods of the music theory teaching in primary music schools -
based on the publication series: Nasza muzyka (Our music) and Nowy solfez

This article provides an extended review of selected textbooks in the primary
music school education. The reviewed textbooks are used for the
eurhythmies and ear training teaching and focus on developing creative skills
of children.

The perception ofsome elements of folk music based on the auditory analysis of
Stanislaw Wiechowicz’s works
The article is an attempt of showing the possibility of use of S. Wiechowicz
works for training the skills of aural analysis. The composer himself was
known for an innovative methodological approach in teaching auditory analysis.
His compositions can serve as an interesting teaching material for classes in
the field of ear training. Choosing the right materials is an opportunity to get
to know the interesting choral works of the composer.

The article presents preliminary findings of research focused on the school
stress prevention through music lessons. Specific procedures including listening
to music, creative playful activities within music lessons and improvisation
prove to be effective in a positive stress management.

working with school ensembles - both vocal and instrumental. The author
reflects on her own experience while describing the organisational and artistic

and music journalism in the context of contemporary culture in its local

Music education and music making as aspects of the peace culture
This text offers a reflection on possibilities of linking music education with
education for peace and intercultural education. The West-Eastern Divan
Orchestra serves as an example of possible directions in education of children
and youth from conflicted nations. The multi-dimensional activities of the
organisation and its influence on the youth from the Middle East and Europe
are presented in the article.

This article presents the main ideas behind the Venezuelan social policy scheme
known as El Sistema. The use of music education through orchestra playing
and other music activities, which has been replicated in several countries all
over the world, presents challenges through its political dimension. The text

cultural policies.

in Polish music of the 20th century. A reconnaissance
This article delivers an overview of Karol Szymanowski’s understanding
of the role of folklore in the art music composition. It also presents the influence
of Szymanowski’s ideas on the composers of later generations, focusing on
folk music of the Kurpie and Podhale region.

Marek Stachowski’s Thakurian Chants for mixed choir and orchestra in the
context of the vocal-instrumental works of the composer
This text presents an analysis of Marek Stachowski’s Thakurian Chants in the
context of the vocal-instrumental output of the composer. The analysis shows
how the combination of the exotic / oriental and the traditional / western both
in the choice of the text and instruments, as well as the music material
organisation and composing techniques reflects the attitude of the composer
towards searching for the roots of his own creativity.

Coexistence of tradition and contemporary - choral music of Pawel Szymahski
The article focuses on the choral works of Pawel Szymanski. Two compositions
written in different stages of the composer’s artistic development - Lux aeterna
and Miserere serve as examples of creative approaches typical for Szymanski:
the use of deconstruction and intertextuality.

This texts presents an outline of the influence of the Orthodox Church monody
on the composing techniques and artistic attitudes of contemporary composers.
An overview of the development of the performance practice in the liturgy
music in the Orthodox Church is followed by an analysis of selected works of
two contemporary Byelorussian composers.
