Zusammenfassung: | In the late fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries, Paris was home to diverse liturgical chant traditions, which are represented in the surviving missals, manuals, processionals, and graduals used by ecclesiastical institutions and civic communities in the diocese. This study investigates the usage of Paris as represented in a group of service books produced by Parisian printers between 1480 and 1540, and manuscripts used in the cathedral, parish churches, and civic communities from the thirteenth through the sixteenth centuries. Additionally, the dissertation provides evidence that certain groups and individuals involved in different aspects of the book trade helped to shape liturgical practices in the city through their contact with ecclesiastical and civic communities, and the University. Through a detailed study of the music and texts for processions and offices performed during the feast of the Purification of the Virgin and Holy Week, which are found in diocesan service books, and twenty-five masses appearing in sources used by Parisian trade confraternities, whose liturgies have until now not been closely examined, this dissertation offers a more detailed conspectus than was hitherto available of the different liturgical practices in the diocese of Paris, and of the communities involved in shaping them in this period |

Through a detailed study of the music and texts for processions and offices performed during the feast of the Purification of the Virgin and Holy Week, which are found in diocesan service books, and twenty-five masses appearing in sources used by Parisian trade confraternities, whose liturgies have until now not been closely examined, this dissertation offers a more detailed conspectus than was hitherto available of the different liturgical practices in the diocese of Paris, and of the communities involved in shaping them in this period Catholic Church / Liturgy / History / 15th century Catholic Church / Liturgy / History / 16th century Catholic Church fast Katholische Kirche Geschichte 1400-1500 Geschichte 1500-1600 Geschichte 1480-1540 gnd rswk-swf Mass (Music) / France / Paris / 15th century Mass (Music) / France / Paris / 16th century Church music / France / Paris / 15th century Church music / France / Paris / 16th century Service books (Music) / Catholic Church Church music / Catholic Church Confraternities / France / Paris Music printing / France / Paris / 15th century Music printing / France / Paris / 16th century Church music fast Church music / Catholic Church fast Confraternities fast Liturgics fast Mass (Music) fast Music printing fast Service books (Music) / Catholic Church fast Geschichte Musikdruck (DE-588)4075121-1 gnd rswk-swf Musikleben (DE-588)4075128-4 gnd rswk-swf Liturgie (DE-588)4036050-7 gnd rswk-swf Geistliche Musik (DE-588)4126228-1 gnd rswk-swf Musikhandschrift (DE-588)4040847-4 gnd rswk-swf France / Paris fast Frankreich Paris (DE-588)4044660-8 gnd rswk-swf (DE-588)4113937-9 Hochschulschrift gnd-content Paris (DE-588)4044660-8 g Geistliche Musik (DE-588)4126228-1 s Liturgie (DE-588)4036050-7 s Musikleben (DE-588)4075128-4 s Musikhandschrift (DE-588)4040847-4 s Musikdruck (DE-588)4075121-1 s Geschichte 1480-1540 z DE-604 |
