Cicero as a reporter of Aristotelian and Theophrastean rhetorical doctrine This volume focuses on Aristotle's practical philosophy. His analysis of emotional response takes pride of place. It is followed by discussion of his moral psychology: the division of the human soul into emotional and deliberative parts. Moral virtue is studied in relation to emotion, and animals are shown to lack both emotion and virtue. Different kinds of friendship are analyzed, and the effects of vehemence, i.e., temperament are given special attention. Aristotle's justification for assigning natural slaves and women subordinate roles receives detailed consideration. The same is true of his analysis of correct and incorrect constitutions. Finally, persuasion is taken up from several angles including Aristotle's emphasis on the presentation of character and his curious dismissal of delivery in speech |

Finally, persuasion is taken up from several angles including Aristotle's emphasis on the presentation of character and his curious dismissal of delivery in speech Aristote / Psychologie Aristote / Éthique à Nicomaque Aristote / Rhétorique Aristote / Morale Aristoteles idszbz Aristoteles swd Aristotle fast Aristotle Aristote Aristoteles Aristotle Psychology Aristotle Nicomachean ethics Aristotle Rhetoric Aristotle Nicomachean ethics English Aristoteles v384-v322 (DE-588)118650130 gnd rswk-swf PHILOSOPHY / History & Surveys / Ancient & Classical bisacsh Ethik idszbz Politische Philosophie idszbz Praktische Philosophie idszbz Psychologie idszbz Rhetorik idszbz Nicomachean ethics (Aristotle) fast Rhetoric (Aristotle) fast Psychology fast Politische Philosophie (DE-588)4076226-9 gnd rswk-swf Psychologie (DE-588)4047704-6 gnd rswk-swf Rhetorik (DE-588)4076704-8 gnd rswk-swf Ethik (DE-588)4015602-3 gnd rswk-swf (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Aristoteles v384-v322 (DE-588)118650130 p Rhetorik (DE-588)4076704-8 s DE-604 Politische Philosophie (DE-588)4076226-9 s Ethik (DE-588)4015602-3 s Psychologie (DE-588)4047704-6 s Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe 978-90-04-15164-2 90-04-15164-8 Philosophia antiqua 101 (DE-604)BV042273695 101 https://doi.org/10.1163/9789047409755 Verlag URL des Erstveröffentlichers Volltext |
