Edward Goldberg reveals the dramas of daily life behind the scenes in the Pitti Palace and in the narrow byways of the Florentine Ghetto, using thousands of new documents from the Medici Granducal Archive. He shows that truth - especially historical truth - can be stranger than fiction, when viewed through the eyes of the people most immediately involved."--Pub. desc "In the seventeenth century, Florence was the splendid capital of the Medici Grand Dukedom of Tuscany. Meanwhile, the Jews in its tiny Ghetto struggled to earn a living by any possible means, especially loan-sharking, rag-picking and second-hand dealing. He won the patronage of Don Giovanni dei Medici, a scion of the ruling family, and for six tumultuous years their lives were inextricably linked Blanis, Benedetto / ca. 1580-1647 Medici, Giovanni de' / 1567-1621 Blanis, Benedetto approximately 1580-1647 Correspondence Blanis, Benedetto approximately 1580-1647 Medici, Giovanni de' 1567-1621 Blanis, Benedetto (DE-588)143943499 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1600-1700 Geschichte 1570-1625 gnd rswk-swf HISTORY / Europe / Italy bisacsh HISTORY / Renaissance bisacsh Alltag, Brauchtum Juden Jews Italy Florence Social life and customs 17th century Jews Italy Florence Biography Getto (DE-588)4157319-5 gnd rswk-swf Judentum (DE-588)4114087-4 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte (DE-588)4020517-4 gnd rswk-swf Europa Italien Florenz (DE-588)4017581-9 gnd rswk-swf (DE-588)4006804-3 Biografie gnd-content Florenz (DE-588)4017581-9 g Geschichte (DE-588)4020517-4 s Geschichte 1570-1625 z 1\p DE-604 Judentum (DE-588)4114087-4 s 2\p DE-604 Getto (DE-588)4157319-5 s 3\p DE-604 Blanis, Benedetto (DE-588)143943499 p 4\p DE-604 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Paperback 978-1-4426-1333-1 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Hardcover 978-1-4426-4225-6 http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&db=nlabk&AN=483332 Aggregator Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 4\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
