This early success was soon followed by others and in the 1920s his popularity in musical theatre was unsurpassed. In this book, William Everett offers the first detailed study of the gifted operetta composer, examining Romberg's key works and musical accomplishments and demonstrating his lasting importance in the history of American musicals. Romberg composed nearly sixty works for musical theatre as well as music for revues, musical comedies, and, later in life, for Hollywood films. Everett shows how Romberg was a defining figure of American operetta in the 1910s and 1920s ("Maytime", "Blossom Time", "The Student Prince"), traces the new model for operetta that he developed with Oscar Hammerstein 2nd in the late 1920s ("The Desert Song", "The New Moon"), and looks at his reworked style of the 1940s ("Up in Central Park"). This book offers an illuminating look at Romberg's Broadway career and legacy |

This book offers an illuminating look at Romberg's Broadway career and legacy Romberg, Sigmund / 1887-1951 Romberg, Sigmund / 1887-1951 fast Romberg, Sigmund 1887-1951 Romberg, Sigmund 1887-1951 (DE-588)119147025 gnd rswk-swf 1900 - 1999 fast Geschichte 1900-2000 Geschichte 1900-2000 gnd rswk-swf MUSIC / Genres & Styles / Opera bisacsh MUSIC / General bisacsh Operetta fast Operetta United States 20th century Operette (DE-588)4043602-0 gnd rswk-swf USA USA (DE-588)4078704-7 gnd rswk-swf 1\p (DE-588)1071854844 Fiktionale Darstellung gnd-content USA (DE-588)4078704-7 g Operette (DE-588)4043602-0 s Geschichte 1900-2000 z 2\p DE-604 Romberg, Sigmund 1887-1951 (DE-588)119147025 p 3\p DE-604 Block, Geoffrey Holden 1948- Sonstige (DE-588)124685218 oth Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Hardcover 0-300-11183-5 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Hardcover 978-0-300-11183-5 http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&db=nlabk&AN=204465 Aggregator Volltext 1\p sdnb2form 20231122 DE-101 ttps://www.bib-bvb.de/rovenienzkennzeichnungen/Uebersicht.html#sdnb2form 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
