She contends that ideas about women's anger in early modern England are both like and unlike those in twentieth-century America. Although women's anger is often dismissed as irrational in both eras, for instance, in the early modern era women were thought to become angry more often and more easily than men due to their inherent physiological, intellectual, and moral inferiority." "Kennedy demonstrates the importance of class and race as factors affecting anger's legitimacy and its forms of expression. She shows how early modern assumptions about women's anger can help to create or exaggerate other differences among women. Her close scrutiny of anger against female inferiority emphasizes the crucial role of emotions in the construction of self-worth and identity."--Jacket |

Her close scrutiny of anger against female inferiority emphasizes the crucial role of emotions in the construction of self-worth and identity."--Jacket 1500 - 1700 fast Geschichte 1600-1700 Geschichte 1500-1600 Geschichte 1500-1600 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1540-1680 gnd rswk-swf Littérature anglaise / 16e siècle / Histoire et critique Littérature anglaise / 17e siècle / Histoire et critique Féminisme et littérature / Angleterre / Histoire / 16e siècle Féminisme et littérature / Angleterre / Histoire / 17e siècle Femmes et littérature / Angleterre / Histoire / 16e siècle Femmes et littérature / Angleterre / Histoire / 17e siècle Colère dans la littérature Écrits de femmes anglais / Histoire et critique LITERARY CRITICISM / European / English, Irish, Scottish, Welsh bisacsh Anger in literature fast English literature / Early modern fast English literature / Women authors fast Feminism and literature fast Women and literature fast Geschichte English literature Early modern, 1500-1700 History and criticism English literature Women authors History and criticism Feminism and literature England History 16th century Feminism and literature England History 17th century Women and literature England History 16th century Women and literature England History 17th century Anger in literature Zorn (DE-588)4135424-2 gnd rswk-swf Englisch (DE-588)4014777-0 gnd rswk-swf Frauenliteratur (DE-588)4113622-6 gnd rswk-swf Zorn Motiv (DE-588)4241419-2 gnd rswk-swf England (DE-588)4014770-8 gnd rswk-swf Englisch (DE-588)4014777-0 s Frauenliteratur (DE-588)4113622-6 s Zorn (DE-588)4135424-2 s Geschichte 1540-1680 z 1\p DE-604 England (DE-588)4014770-8 g Zorn Motiv (DE-588)4241419-2 s Geschichte 1500-1600 z 2\p DE-604 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Hardcover 0-8093-2261-7 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Hardcover 978-0-8093-2261-9 http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&db=nlabk&AN=45679 Aggregator Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
