It draws on the individual returns from the 1891, 1901 and 1911 censuses of England and Wales, to which Garrett, Reid, Schurer and Szreter were permitted access ahead of scheduled release dates. Using the responses of the inhabitants of 13 communities to the special questions included in the 1911 'fertility' census, they consider the interactions between the social, economic and physical environments in which people lived and their family building experience and behaviour. Techniques and approaches based in demography, history and geography enable the authors to re-examine the declines in infant mortality and marital fertility which occurred at the turn of the twentieth century. Comparisons are drawn within and between white collar, agricultural and industrial communities and the analyses, conducted at both local and national level, lead to conclusions which challenge both contemporary and current orthodoxies."--Jacket |

Comparisons are drawn within and between white collar, agricultural and industrial communities and the analyses, conducted at both local and national level, lead to conclusions which challenge both contemporary and current orthodoxies."--Jacket Geschichte 1891-1911 gnd rswk-swf SOCIAL SCIENCE / Demography bisacsh Famille / Dimension / Angleterre / Histoire Famille / Dimension / Pays de Galles / Histoire Fécondité humaine / Angleterre / Histoire Fécondité humaine / Pays de Galles / Histoire Nourrissons / Angleterre / Mortalité Nourrissons / Pays de Galles / Mortalité Classes sociales / Angleterre / Histoire Classes sociales / Pays de Galles / Histoire Bevolkingsontwikkeling gtt Gezinsgrootte gtt Sociale klassen gtt Familiengröße swd Geschichte 1891-1911 swd Family size fast Fertility, Human fast Infants / Mortality fast Population fast Social classes fast Geschichte Family size England History Family size Wales History Fertility, Human England History Fertility, Human Wales History Infants Mortality England Infants Mortality Wales Social classes England History Social classes Wales History Familiengröße (DE-588)4480441-6 gnd rswk-swf England (DE-588)4014770-8 gnd rswk-swf Wales (DE-588)4064435-2 gnd rswk-swf Wales (DE-588)4064435-2 g Familiengröße (DE-588)4480441-6 s Geschichte 1891-1911 z 1\p DE-604 England (DE-588)4014770-8 g 2\p DE-604 Garrett, Eilidh Sonstige oth http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&db=nlabk&AN=74380 Aggregator Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
