Beginning with the observation that talk is central to all genres of radio and television, Ian Hutchby examines the forms of speech used by broadcasters as their primary means of communicating with audiences. He looks at a range of media forms and genres, including televised audience debates, confrontational TV talk shows such as "Oprah Winfrey" and "Ricki Lake", open-line talk radio shows, advice-giving broadcasts, news interviews and political panel discussions. Hutchby argues that the study of talk provides insights into the very nature of mass communication, and invites the reader into further consideration of a range of important issues, such as the relationship between broadcasters and audiences, and the public role of media output. The book not only describes the role of media talk but also provides detailed examples of analytical tools. It is key reading for students on courses in language and the media, media discourse, communication and cultural studies |

It is key reading for students on courses in language and the media, media discourse, communication and cultural studies SOCIAL SCIENCE / Media Studies bisacsh Discourse analysis gtt Massamedia gtt Gesprächsführung swd Konversationsanalyse swd Medien swd Rundfunk swd Medien Mass media and language Broadcasters Language Audiences Language Conversation analysis Broadcasting Television talk shows Radio talk shows Sprache (DE-588)4056449-6 gnd rswk-swf Gesprächsführung (DE-588)4124995-1 gnd rswk-swf Konversationsanalyse (DE-588)4114283-4 gnd rswk-swf Rundfunk (DE-588)4050963-1 gnd rswk-swf Massenmedien (DE-588)4037877-9 gnd rswk-swf Medien (DE-588)4169187-8 gnd rswk-swf Englisch (DE-588)4014777-0 gnd rswk-swf Englisch (DE-588)4014777-0 s Massenmedien (DE-588)4037877-9 s Sprache (DE-588)4056449-6 s Konversationsanalyse (DE-588)4114283-4 s 1\p DE-604 Medien (DE-588)4169187-8 s Gesprächsführung (DE-588)4124995-1 s 2\p DE-604 Rundfunk (DE-588)4050963-1 s 3\p DE-604 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Paperback 0-335-20995-5 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Hardcover 0-335-20996-3 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Paperback 978-0-335-20995-8 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Hardcover 978-0-335-20996-5 http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&db=nlabk&AN=233972 Aggregator Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
