Beschreibung: | Includes bibliographical references (p. [201]-212) The nature of human cognition: epistemological assumptions -- Individuating entities -- Representing lexical semantic information: a bird's eye view "Meaning, the complex phenomenon of individuation and the definition of identity are the core theme of this work. Grounded on a theoretical framework that gives particular emphasis to the semiotic process common to all forms of cognition, human cognition is conceived here as specific of organisms that, in the course of their interactions, produce symbolic forms, defining the specific physical, social and cultural environments in which they evolve. Individuation, inherent to that semiotic process, is complex and double-sided. It involves, on one hand, the definition of semantic identities and their acknowledgment as world objects naming; on the other hand, it comprehends the specific lexical and morphosyntactic strategies different languages have found to designate particular entities referring. The definition of world objects and its symbolic translation presents variations from language to language. In the second part of the book, we define what we have called a 'structure-motivated ontology' to represent how this symbolic translation is accomplished in English and European Portuguese. Plus, we try to show how the nature of this symbolic translation affects structural realisation, namely the individuation of reference and the construal of 'one-off referring' expressions."--Publisher's description |

Plus, we try to show how the nature of this symbolic translation affects structural realisation, namely the individuation of reference and the construal of 'one-off referring' expressions."--Publisher's description Bedeutung swd Erfahrung swd Identität swd Individuation swd Kognition swd Symbol swd Weltanschauung swd LANGUAGE ARTS & DISCIPLINES / Linguistics / Semantics bisacsh Identity (Philosophical concept) fast Individuation (Philosophy) fast Linguistics / Philosophy fast Meaning (Philosophy) fast Linguistik Philosophie Linguistics Philosophy Meaning (Philosophy) Individuation (Philosophy) Identity (Philosophical concept) Weltanschauung (DE-588)4065348-1 gnd rswk-swf Symbol (DE-588)4058716-2 gnd rswk-swf Bedeutung (DE-588)4005184-5 gnd rswk-swf Identität (DE-588)4026482-8 gnd rswk-swf Kognition (DE-588)4031630-0 gnd rswk-swf Individuation (DE-588)4026749-0 gnd rswk-swf Erfahrung (DE-588)4015217-0 gnd rswk-swf Bedeutung (DE-588)4005184-5 s Individuation (DE-588)4026749-0 s Identität (DE-588)4026482-8 s Weltanschauung (DE-588)4065348-1 s 1\p DE-604 Symbol (DE-588)4058716-2 s Erfahrung (DE-588)4015217-0 s Kognition (DE-588)4031630-0 s 2\p DE-604 http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&db=nlabk&AN=539519 Aggregator Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
