From the beginnings of human settlement Britain has represented a final frontier for successive waves of colonists, each bringing its own set of cultural adaptations and its own ethos into the landscape. Over time both landscape and culture have matured from raw frontier to settled centre, moulded by the advent of agriculture, towns, and industry, and by streams of migration both within Britain and from outside. The chapters in this book - by archaeologists, historians, and geographers - present an interdisciplinary and accessible account of that long process. Together they trace the various phases of the story, showing how much of it has only recently been unearthed, and how much remains to be discovered |

Together they trace the various phases of the story, showing how much of it has only recently been unearthed, and how much remains to be discovered Geschichte gnd rswk-swf Geschichte Anfänge-1991 gnd rswk-swf SOCIAL SCIENCE / Human Geography bisacsh Human geography fast Land settlement patterns fast Nederzettingen gtt Bevolking gtt Landschappen gtt Human geography Great Britain Land settlement patterns Great Britain Landschaft (DE-588)4034343-1 gnd rswk-swf Bevölkerungsentwicklung (DE-588)4006292-2 gnd rswk-swf Siedlung (DE-588)4054858-2 gnd rswk-swf Siedlungsgeografie (DE-588)4133319-6 gnd rswk-swf Bevölkerung (DE-588)4006287-9 gnd rswk-swf Großbritannien Großbritannien (DE-588)4022153-2 gnd rswk-swf 1\p (DE-588)4143413-4 Aufsatzsammlung gnd-content Großbritannien (DE-588)4022153-2 g Bevölkerung (DE-588)4006287-9 s Landschaft (DE-588)4034343-1 s Geschichte Anfänge-1991 z 2\p DE-604 Siedlung (DE-588)4054858-2 s Geschichte z 3\p DE-604 Bevölkerungsentwicklung (DE-588)4006292-2 s 4\p DE-604 Siedlungsgeografie (DE-588)4133319-6 s 5\p DE-604 Slack, Paul Sonstige oth Ward, Ryk Sonstige oth http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&db=nlabk&AN=150033 Aggregator Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 4\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 5\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
