Gabriele Helms develops a cultural narratology to argue that the contemporary Canadian novels in English considered in this book challenge dominant constructions of Canada from positions of difference and resistance, inscribing previously oppressed and silenced voices through dialogic relations. She makes Mikhail Bakhtin's concept of dialogism amenable to textual analysis and problematizes its ideological forces by emphasizing elements of struggle and conflict. Challenging Canada rejects dialogism as a normative liberal pluralism and understands the inequality between voices as historically and socially constructed."--Jacket |

Challenging Canada rejects dialogism as a normative liberal pluralism and understands the inequality between voices as historically and socially constructed."--Jacket Lee, Sky swd Marlatt, Daphne swd Van Herk, Aritha swd King, Thomas swd Armstrong, Jeannette C. swd Kogawa, Joy swd Bachtin, Michail Michajlovič 1895-1975 (DE-588)118505653 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1900-2000 Geschichte 1980-2000 gnd rswk-swf Roman canadien-anglais / Auteurs issus des minorités / Histoire et critique Roman canadien-anglais / 20e siècle / Histoire et critique Minorités dans la littérature Dialogisme Narration Erzähltechnik swd Roman swd LITERARY CRITICISM / American / General bisacsh LITERARY CRITICISM / Canadian bisacsh Canadian fiction Minority authors History and criticism Canadian fiction 20th century History and criticism Minorities in literature Dialogism (Literary analysis) Narration (Rhetoric) Englisch (DE-588)4014777-0 gnd rswk-swf Dialogisches Prinzip (DE-588)4012063-6 gnd rswk-swf Roman (DE-588)4050479-7 gnd rswk-swf Kanada (DE-588)4029456-0 gnd rswk-swf Kanada (DE-588)4029456-0 g Roman (DE-588)4050479-7 s Englisch (DE-588)4014777-0 s Geschichte 1980-2000 z Bachtin, Michail Michajlovič 1895-1975 (DE-588)118505653 p Dialogisches Prinzip (DE-588)4012063-6 s 1\p DE-604 http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&db=nlabk&AN=403907 Aggregator Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
