In this explosive book, Guido Giacomo Preparata shows that the truth is very different: using meticulous economic analysis, he demonstrates that Hitler's extraordinary rise to power was in fact facilitated -- and eventually financed -- by the British and American political classes during the decade following World War I. Through a close analysis of events in the Third Reich, Preparata unveils a startling history of Anglo-American geopolitical interests in the early twentieth century. He explains that Britain, still clinging to its empire, was terrified of an alliance forming between Germany and Russia. He shows how the UK, through the Bank of England, came to exercise control over Weimar Germany and how Anglo-American financial support for Hitler enabled the Nazis to seize power. This controversial study shows that Nazism was not regarded as an aberration: for the British and American establishment of the time, it was regarded as a convenient way of destabilising Europe and driving Germany into conflict with Stalinist Russia, thus preventing the formation of any rival continental power block."--Book cover |

[295]-304) and index Introductory : the Eurasian embrace : laying siege to Germany with World War I, 1900-18 -- The Veblenian prophecy : from the councils to Versailles by way of Russian fratricide, 1919-20 -- The meltdown and geopolitical correctness of Mein Kampf between the Kapp and the Beerhall Putsch, 1920-23 -- "Death on the installment plan" : whereby Governor Norman came to pace the damnation of Europe, 1924-33 -- The Reich on the marble cliffs : fire, legerdemain, and mummery all the way to Barbarossa, 1933-41 "Nazism is usually depicted as the outcome of political blunders and unique economic factors: we are told that it could not be prevented, and that it will never be repeated. This controversial study shows that Nazism was not regarded as an aberration: for the British and American establishment of the time, it was regarded as a convenient way of destabilising Europe and driving Germany into conflict with Stalinist Russia, thus preventing the formation of any rival continental power block."--Book cover Geschichte 1900-1941 gnd rswk-swf Geschichte 1900-1945 gnd rswk-swf BUSINESS & ECONOMICS / International / General bisacsh BUSINESS & ECONOMICS / International / Economics bisacsh Außenpolitik swd Wirtschaftsbeziehungen swd International economic relations fast National socialism fast Weltwirtschaft Wirtschaft National socialism Außenpolitik (DE-588)4003846-4 gnd rswk-swf Wirtschaftsbeziehungen (DE-588)4068297-3 gnd rswk-swf Deutschland (DE-588)4011882-4 gnd rswk-swf USA (DE-588)4078704-7 gnd rswk-swf Großbritannien (DE-588)4022153-2 gnd rswk-swf Großbritannien (DE-588)4022153-2 g USA (DE-588)4078704-7 g Außenpolitik (DE-588)4003846-4 s Wirtschaftsbeziehungen (DE-588)4068297-3 s Deutschland (DE-588)4011882-4 g Geschichte 1900-1941 z 1\p DE-604 Geschichte 1900-1945 z 2\p DE-604 3\p DE-604 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Paperback 0-7453-2181-X Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Hardcover 0-7453-2182-8 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Paperback 978-0-7453-2181-3 Erscheint auch als Druck-Ausgabe, Hardcover 978-0-7453-2182-0 http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&db=nlabk&AN=167985 Aggregator Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
