Beschreibung: | Includes bibliographical references (p. [311]-363) and index Paul Lafargue, the disciple and son-in-law of Karl Marx, helped to found the first French Marxist party in 1882. Over the next three decades, he served as the chief theoretician and propagandist for Marxism in France. During these years - which ended with the dramatic suicides of Lafargue and his wife - French socialism, and the Marxist party within it, became a significant political force. Leslie Derfler explores Lafargue's political strategies, specifically his break with party co-founder Jules Guesde in the Boulanger and Dreyfus episodes and over the question of socialist syndicalist relations. Derfler shows Lafargue's importance as both political activist and theorist. He describes Lafargue's role in the formulation of such strategies as the promotion of a Second Workingmen's International, the pursuit of reform within the framework of the existent state but opposition to any socialist participation in nonsocialist governments, and the subordination of trade unionism to political action. He emphasizes Lafargue's pioneering efforts to apply Marxist methods of analysis to questions of anthropology, aesthetics, and literary criticism |

Harvard University Press 1998 1 Online-Ressource (xv, 369 pages) txt rdacontent c rdamedia cr rdacarrier Includes bibliographical references (p. He emphasizes Lafargue's pioneering efforts to apply Marxist methods of analysis to questions of anthropology, aesthetics, and literary criticism Lafargue, Paul / 1842-1911 fast Lafargue, Paul 1842-1911 Lafargue, Paul 1842-1911 (DE-588)118568671 gnd rswk-swf 1800 - 1899 fast Geschichte 1800-1900 Geschichte 1882-1911 gnd rswk-swf POLITICAL SCIENCE / Political Ideologies / Communism & Socialism bisacsh Marxisme gtt Political activists fast Socialism fast Socialists fast Marxismus Socialists France Biography Political activists France Socialism France Socialism France 19th century Sozialismus (DE-588)4055785-6 gnd rswk-swf Frankreich Frankreich (DE-588)4018145-5 gnd rswk-swf (DE-588)4006804-3 Biografie gnd-content 1\p (DE-588)1071854844 Fiktionale Darstellung gnd-content Frankreich (DE-588)4018145-5 g Sozialismus (DE-588)4055785-6 s Geschichte 1882-1911 z 2\p DE-604 Lafargue, Paul 1842-1911 (DE-588)118568671 p 3\p DE-604 http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&db=nlabk&AN=282712 Aggregator Volltext 1\p sdnb2form 20231122 DE-101 ttps://www.bib-bvb.de/rovenienzkennzeichnungen/Uebersicht.html#sdnb2form 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
