Virtually any problem for which specific parameters need to be determined to satisfy constraints can be formulated as a design optimization problem. The concepts and methods described in the text are quite general and applicable to all such formulations. Inasmuch, the range of application of the optimum design methodology is almost limitless, constrained only by the imagination and ingenuity of the user. Throughout the text, simple design problems involving two to three design variables and three to four constraints are solved in detail to illustrate fundamental concepts and basic ideas. The necessary results from optimization theory are stated and their implications are studied through application to engineering design problems. Theory and concepts of optimum design are explained only through examples and simple engineering applications. Several of the numerical procedures and concepts described in the text are useful in many other engineering courses and applications. * Allows engineers involved in the design process to adapt optimum design concepts in their work using the material in the text. * Basic concepts of optimality conditions and numerical methods are described with simple examples, making the material high teachable and learnable. * Classroom-tested for many years to attain optimum pedagogical effectiveness |

* Classroom-tested for many years to attain optimum pedagogical effectiveness TECHNOLOGY & ENGINEERING / Engineering (General) bisacsh TECHNOLOGY & ENGINEERING / Reference bisacsh Engineering design / Mathematical models fast Mathematisches Modell Engineering design Mathematical models Optimierung (DE-588)4043664-0 gnd rswk-swf Konstruieren (DE-588)4139312-0 gnd rswk-swf Design (DE-588)4011510-0 gnd rswk-swf Mathematische Methode (DE-588)4155620-3 gnd rswk-swf Angewandte Mathematik (DE-588)4142443-8 gnd rswk-swf 1\p (DE-588)4143389-0 Aufgabensammlung gnd-content Konstruieren (DE-588)4139312-0 s Optimierung (DE-588)4043664-0 s Angewandte Mathematik (DE-588)4142443-8 s 2\p DE-604 Mathematische Methode (DE-588)4155620-3 s 3\p DE-604 Design (DE-588)4011510-0 s 4\p DE-604 http://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&scope=site&db=nlebk&db=nlabk&AN=187175 Aggregator Volltext 1\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 2\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 3\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk 4\p cgwrk 20201028 DE-101 https://d-nb.info/provenance/plan#cgwrk |
