This volume aims not only at exploring the concepts of “identity”
“difference” and “belonging” from a theoretical perspective, but more
importantly at relating them empirically to multicultural contexts that
shed a better light on the concepts in question. The volume is
composed of chapters under various themes that provide an analytical
analysis on how individuals choose and shift from one identity to the other as
well as how they voluntarily and involuntarily belong to one or the other group
thus shaping the very fabrics of a multicultural environment.
Dina Mansour holds a PhD in “Politics, Human Rights and Sustainability’’ with a specialization in
Political Economy and Human Rights with a regional focus on the Middle-East region in general and
Egypt in particular. She currently works as a (part-time) Research Assistant at the European University
Institute in Florence, Italy.
Sebastian llle is a Research Fellow at the Laboratory of Economics and Management at the Sant’Anna
School for Advanced Studies in Pisa, Italy specialising in evolutionary game theory, complex system
and conflict theory and is working on strategic interactions and the evolution of norms, conventions
and identity groups.
Andrew Milne is at the Université Catholique de l’Ouest and at the University of Angers, France. He is
a Lecturer in English at the Political Science Institute of Toulouse (Sciences-Po), France where he also
holds the position of Coordinator of International Relations Pedagogical Director of the Political
Studies International Certificate.
