[107]-109. - "An address to sailors, by Elders Smith and Jones."--p. 110-112. - "It will be perceived, by the author's preface, that this work was to have been published during his life time. His death, which took place soon after the completion of the manuscript, prevented his design. Mr. Benson having brought his narrative ... to the conclusion of his voyages; it has been thought advisable by the publisher, to give a short account of his life from the above period, to the time of his death."--Note by the publisher, p. [5]. - "Subscribers' names."--p. [113]-120. - "The experience and remarkable vision of John Benson."--p. [79]-99. - Dated [1818?] in Shaw & Shoemaker. - John Benson died on Dec. 28, 1818. According to Garrison, Wendell Phillips, The Benson family of Newport, Rhode Island (1872), p. 23, the narrative was published "prior to 1824" by the author's son, John Casey Benson, a cotton, woollen and silk manufacturer in Worcester County, Mass. - Running title: Benson's narrative. - Shaw & Shoemaker, 43283. - The location of subscribers in Rhode Island and adjacent parts of Connecticut and Massachusetts suggests the book may have been printed at Providence
