Against the backdrop of England's emergence as a
major economic power, the development of early
modern capitalism in general and the transformation
of the Mediterranean, Maria Fusaro presents a
new perspective on the onset of Venetian decline.
Examining the significant commercial relationship
between these two European empires during the
period 1450—1700, Fusaro demonstrates how Venice's
social, political and economic circumstances shaped
the English mercantile community in unique ways.
By focusing on the commercial interaction between
Venice and England, she also re-establishes the analys
of the maritime political economy as an essential
constituent of the Venetian state political economy.
This challenging interpretation of some classic issues
of early modern history will be of profound interest
to economic, social and legal historians and provides
a stimulating addition to current debates in imperial
history, especially on the economic relationship
between different empires, and the socio-economic
interaction between rulers and ruled'. |

Examining the significant commercial relationship between these two European empires during the period 1450-1700, Fusaro demonstrates how Venice's social, political and economic circumstances shaped the English mercantile community in unique ways. By focusing on the commercial interaction between Venice and England, she also re-establishes the analysis of the maritime political economy as an essential constituent of the Venetian state political economy. This challenging interpretation of some classic issues of early modern history will be of profound interest to economic, social and legal historians and provides a stimulating addition to current debates in imperial history, especially on the economic relationship between different empires and the socio-economic interaction between 'rulers and ruled'" Geschichte 1450-1700 gnd rswk-swf Commerce / Méditerranée (région) / Histoire ram Navigation / Italie / Venise (Italie) / Histoire ram Commerce / Italie / Venise (Italie) / Histoire ram Marine marchande / Italie / Venise (Italie) / 14e siècle ram Transports maritimes / Italie / Venise (Italie) / 14e siècle ram Außenpolitik Geschichte Seehandel (DE-588)4224912-0 gnd rswk-swf Grande-Bretagne / Commerce / Histoire ram Mediterranean Region / Commerce / History Venice (Italy) / Commerce / History Great Britain / Commerce / History Venice (Italy) / Foreign relations / Great Britain Great Britain / Foreign relations / Italy / Venice Mediterranean Region / History / 1517-1789 Großbritannien Italien Mittelmeer (DE-588)4074895-9 gnd rswk-swf Venedig (DE-588)4062501-1 gnd rswk-swf England (DE-588)4014770-8 gnd rswk-swf Mittelmeer (DE-588)4074895-9 g Seehandel (DE-588)4224912-0 s Geschichte 1450-1700 z DE-604 Venedig (DE-588)4062501-1 g England (DE-588)4014770-8 g Digitalisierung UB Regensburg - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=028199605&sequence=000003&line_number=0001&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Inhaltsverzeichnis Digitalisierung UB Regensburg - ADAM Catalogue Enrichment application/pdf http://bvbr.bib-bvb.de:8991/F?func=service&doc_library=BVB01&local_base=BVB01&doc_number=028199605&sequence=000004&line_number=0002&func_code=DB_RECORDS&service_type=MEDIA Klappentext |
