Adama Dieng has selflessly offerei^hjim .as a token of
appreciation to his dedication and contnba^ of law and
human rights, especially in his native eonim^ a high-ranking
international civil servant, diplomat, teacher*
jurist, Adama Dieng has inspired,, and indeed}continues to inspire, a
generation of men and՛ women bothwith his
unqualified commitment to the advancement, of th^ ideals reflected in the
United Nations Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Through his work and commitment to ther cause՝ Of international justice
and conflict prevention, he has consistently placed the1 interests of his
fellow men and women, and indeed those of his continent, before his own
interests. It is, therefore, in recognition of his efforts that, his fellow jurists,
friends and colleagues decided to honour his (contribution through a
collection of essays on a life dedicated to the advancement of international
peace and justice through the rule of law, The contributions gathered here
represent, in good measure, the values and beliefs in rule of law and human
rights that have characterized Adama’s commitment to work towards a
better Africa and a better world.
Dr Charles Riziki Majinge was born and grew up in Tanzania. He holds an
LLM and LLB from Northwestern University School of Law, Chicago, and
the University of Dar es Salaam respectively. He received his doctorate in
Public International Law at the London School of Economics and Political
Science (LSE) under the supervision of Professor Chaloka Beyani and
Christine Chinkin. He is an expert in constitutional law, international
criminal law, international human rights law, public international law, and
the laws of international organizations, and is particularly interested in
peace and security issues, conflict prevention and peacebuilding. Dr Majinge
has previously worked on constitutional and rule of law reforms in the Horn
of Africa, most notably in South Sudan and Sudan, and has also worked for
the African Union, the United Nations and the Max Planck Institute for
Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg Germany.
