Beschreibung: | Preface Process redesign within and beyond organisational boundaries has become a dominant theme in business theory and practice. Initial impressions in practice, however, provide contradictory evidence: on the one hand a series of extremely successful projects with substantial improvements in processing times, quality or process costs; on the other a significant number of failed projects. The situation facing company managers is unclear. Information and communication technology opens up a wide range of business opportunities, but also creates dangers: globalisation, optimising logistics, information associations between suppliers and customers, shorter product life-cycles, etc., demand that companies examine the foundations of their business and reformulate their processes. But what is the best way to approach this challenge? How are failed projects to be avoided? Which of the many approaches is best suited to the company? Such questions have been examined by the "Process Development" Competence Centre (CC PRO) within the "University of St. Gallen Information Management" research program, in close collaboration with major Swiss companies. The issues examined by the Competence Centre were: BPR Methods In the initial phase, the Competence Centre assembled and evaluated methods and approaches from a wide range of consultancy firms and research institutes. This book presents the results of this phase: the analysis and comparison of the most important methods currently available on the market |
