Beschreibung:Technological requirements, legislative pressures, and last but not least a growing environmental concern by the population at large have led to substantial improvements in particle separation from gases during the past few years. It has been repeatedly documented that, despite rising production and increasing fuel consumption, the last 15 years have witnessed a reduction in particulate matter by more than 50 %. Changes in raw material and fuels, improvements in techniques and advances in rational implementation of separation methods have largely contributed to this. Updated processing conditions, advances in measuring techniques, as well as more attention to environmental stresses make it even more important not to rest on our laurels. It has become increasingly evident that the assessment of a dust problem by quantity alone is not enough. A precise assessment of the quality of the particulate matter is of equal importance. Chemical composition and physical characteristics are also important parameters. Constituents and particle size distribution demand increased attention, since both influence the subsequent treatment of the dust. To make further reductions in environmental dust levels, and to increase the separation performance of filters, especially in the fine particle area, their fields of application must be extended widely even more
