It transpires that as a functional genre the Reformation dialogue can be classified as belonging primarily to the genus deliberativum / genus didascale, a specific form of theological rhetoric Proceeding from a discussion of striking text-immanent features relating both to form and content, the study examines some 70 German dialogue texts dating from between 1521 and 1525 and inquires into the situative conditions determining the production of these flysheets.
