So war Johann Gustav Droysens Übersetzung von 1835/38 eine der ersten deutschen Aristophanes-Gesamtausgaben überhaupt. Die vorliegende Untersuchung fragt einerseits nach Droysens Stellung zur klassizistischen Übersetzungstradition, andererseits nach seinem Verhältnis zur Aristophanes-Rezeption deutscher Vormärz-Autoren, die damals das politische Potenzial der Komödien neu entdeckten Main description: It was not until late that the comedies of Aristophanes were translated into German. Die vorliegende Untersuchung fragt einerseits nach Droysens Stellung zur klassizistischen Übersetzungstradition, andererseits nach seinem Verhältnis zur Aristophanes-Rezeption deutscher Vormärz-Autoren, die damals das politische Potenzial der Komödien neu entdeckten Main description: It was not until late that the comedies of Aristophanes were translated into German. What impeded their reception were the abundance of unclear allusions to day-to-day politics in Athens and obscene jokes. Thus, the translation of Johann Gustav Droysen from 1835/38 was one of the very first German editions of the complete works of Aristophanes. This study aims to investigate Droysen's position in its relation to the classical tradition of translation.
