SUMMARY
Municipality of Sharr includes the south end of Dukagjini,
respectively the south-west of Kosova, consisting of two geographical
entireties - Opoja and Gora , which are tightly linked with each other.
Considering the natural characteristics that it has, represents a
differentiated geographic entirety of Kosova.
Considering the natural characteristics that the territory of the
municipality of Sharr (Dragash) possesses, represents a differentiated
geographic entirety of Kosova, and one gets an impression that we are
dealing with a territory èhich is relatively enclosed in geo-
morphological point of view. Distance from (Prizren) regional center
is 37 km, while from Prishtina the main center of Kosova is 114 km.
Current entirety of the municipality of Sharr (Dragash) consists
of teo micro- regions - Opoja and Gora, while in their space, different
categories of relief are linked as well as other geographic and
pedological structures. It is evident that relief if the most important
physical- geographical element of each space. Besides it affects in
other physical-geographical factors such as: climate, waters, rainfalls,
vegetations etc., it depends on relief hoe will the certain space be
attractive and more functional.
The historical past of Opoja and Dragash can not be separately
vieèed from Prizren and it’s suburb, because they have always been
bound up with this city and were constituent parts of it.
Settlements of Opoja and Gora, are spread along the valleys
and high plains among the highest summits of Sharr, Korab and
Koretnik. Considering territorial- administrative aspect, the locality of
this municipality is divided into 36 settlements, 19 of which belongs to
Opoja populated by Albanians, èhile 16 villages consisted the region
of Gora populated by Bosnians/ Gorans. Among these regions, the
small toèn of Dragash lies, which has a mixed population.
Settlements are placed about 900 to 500 height above the sea-
level.
Publication of Kosova’s settlements - Sharri ( Dragash) is
mainly based on historical, archival sources and land research, enriches
and completes our history with the past of this region. In composing of

this work I relied on three sources of facts and scientific arguments 1.
In former author’s works, for Opoja and Gora, which are published as a
characteristic territory from other territories of Kosova relating to land
configurations, climate, economic structures, population, traditions,
cultures etc. of this territory; 2. based on archival arguments of foreign
and local guides and 3. on exploratory and scientific expeditions, that
I have done starting from Sharri (Dragash) center, and then each
settlement (village) separately.
I think that these three sources have brought enough scientific
material, though a part of this original material, written by serb authors
often had tendentious character with intention and hegemonistic
rearwards of big Serbia, in serve of colonial policy in order to invade
foreign Balkans areas in general, and in Kosova in particular.These
falsified studies, which are based on myths and legends, on etymology
and rumor.
The book is divided into several chapters. Settlement’s chapter,
is the one that composed the back bone of the book in question, which
at the same time enhanced scientific value of the book in question,
because with gathered, classified, elaborated, valued and published
material with a scientific criterion, where polemics with affirmations
and ascertainments of some authors were often proceeded with whom I
do not agree.
By this necessary monographic work that includes 36
settlements of the municipality of Sharr (Dragash), geographic- historic
studies are enriched at our place, in one side, while making a
supporting base by large and complete material offered for genuine
scientific monograph studies for each settlement in Kosova, on the
other side.
