SUMMARY
Geographic position, suitable conditions for existence, natural
resources, and favorable climate etc. have conditioned that territory of
Peja and Deçan Municipality to be inhabited from the immemorial, and
to create many inhabitable places. But many habitations during history,
because of the wars, illness, arsons, earthquakes etc, are ruined or
abounded, therefore with the creation of the conditions, are recovered
or constructed constructions in those localities or near by. -
The book “Habitations of Kosovo”- Peja and Deçan, is
published essentially, in order to serve people that are interested in
getting knowledge, the arguments and evidences for the historical past
of habitations of these two municipalities. Here are treated the
habitations in historical, geographical and demographical aspects, etc.
This edition is published on the frame of monographic studies
of Kosovo habitations. My work of scientific researching the project
“Kosovo habitations” has started earlier, in order to enlighten the scien-
tific and historical truth. The title of the project itself shows the mea-
ning, contest and importance of the researched work, emphasizing the
actual problem of the habitations and its inhabitants in the past that is
treated from the different studies, mostly foreigners having political
aim.
Researching and scientific work for alighting the historical
past of the habitations request more teamwork in many aspects of
enlightens. But, in absence of this organization, I have started working
on this problem. Therefore, the main aim of this work is to show to
different readers in short points and clearly the historical past of the
habitations of Peja and Deçan municipalities, like the other municipa-
lities shoën till now and those that I am going to bring after this work. I
am writing this wishing that our history ëould not remain in silence.
Not allowing our past to be distorting, whereas up to now we had on
purpose distortion of the facts, needs to be to corrected and to enlighten
the historical truth.
The researching method that I choose is at first to investigate
the archive documents and literature that gives information about the
habitations archive and historical sources, few literature and other
sources, than direct research of the area in all habitations, notes taken
through the questionnaires sent to different persons, as well as notes
from Municipalities.

While reading this work, its appeared that we are based on resource,
respectively in notes and evidences that ee posses, as well as we present you
the past history of the habitations from the very beginning, growing, falling,
ruining, reconstruction, development etc. than invasions and dominance of the
foreigners of the population of those habitations, giving their characteristic to
this habitations ext.
As it is known habitations and its population in the historical past had
faced the counter sayings continuous wars, defeats and victo-ries in
battlefields against the different occupants, faced also with affluence and
poorness etc. The suffering of the population of habitations of Peja and De$an
Municipality and also in whole Kosovo are compassionate and tragic.
Continunuously rising, as the new born habitations increased, different
occupiers intense their violence and terror against them, therefore often they
were forced to go abroad and to be displaced. Therefore today at every part
of the world are Albanians, even the hole territory and colonies.
In this volume are included 84 habitations of Peja and 40 habi-tations
of Decani Municipalities; those next researchers can serve as factgraph source
to write monographs of habitations of theirs territories.
For each habitation, depending of the facts that we possess, are
included this notes: position and geographic extension, type of habitation,
quarters respectively important families in those habitations, most
characteristic microtoponim, traces and archeological evidences for
antiquated habitations, historical and archival written sources for
displacement of the inhabitants of the residences, number of inhabitants and
the families based on registration or other records, and till the records of the
atrocities of last ear from the Serbian occupier on 1998-1999.
Toady, the net of habitations of Peja and De^an Municipality consist
of Administration Center of Peja region, Municipal Center De^an, local
Centers, habitations, quarters and groups of the houses.
In space view, the big number of the habitations are concentrated in
parts verge the forest and hills, one part in lowland, beside the regional
magisterial road, on valley, whereas on part of them are in hill-mountain.
This publication about habitations of these municipalities, bases
mainly on archive sources, historical and researches on area, enrich and fulfill
our history, history of this territory, which was not enlightened.
