SYMMARY
Territory of Kacanik municipality covers the south part of
Kosova territory with a surface of 306 km2, respectively 2.8% of the
overall surface of Kosova.
The territory that the municipality of Kaganik covers, is
expanded in Sharr and Karadaku’s ֊ Shkupi slope, mountains that are
separated by a deep ruff valleys of Lepenci river, in lengh of 33 km.
Geographical position, appropriate conditions for life natural
resources, favorite climate etc, have determined that the municipality of
Kaganik to be inhabited form immemorial times and that created this
place in lots of residences/dwellings. In many locations if there were
archeological researches to be done, many facts would be found on the
early dwellings. But many dwellings during the past, because of the
wars, diseases, fires, earthquakes etc..., were destroyed or deserted,
therefore with the creation of conditions in these dwellings or
somewhre close to these dwellings new buildings were made.
Kaganiku dwelligs with some with few exceptions either they
are a continuum of direct conntinuity or with a little of discontinuance
retained that continuum from the antique till nowadays. Storms of the
history, most of them made that they are saved only as main relicts, and
in their realm dwelling life continued even with the neë designations —
often changed by invaders.
In the past history, as it is knoën, in Kosova regionand even
wider in Ballkan was inhabited by Illyrians, Albanian ancestors.
Invasions, migrations, huge or sporadic fluxes of the different nations
during th history impacted that this body of Illyrian land became
narrowed. With this the population structure started to change in these
territories, especially when Slavs from north and lands beyond
Karpatains came.
Since these times, the life started to develop sometimes with
strong and sometimes with weak intensity, the human cultures started
to develop. Cultural material relics that ar developed long time ago are
witnesses for their existence.
This territory in life development process during the past
history was integral part of Illyrian-Albanian territories. In past history,
as it known tha in Kosova territory and in Ballkan, Illyrian has lived,
Albanian ancestors. With invasions, migrations, huge or sporadic crams
of different populations during the histoy influenced that the land trunk

of Illyrians got strangulated. The structure of the population starts to
change With this in these territories, especialy with he infiltration of
slaves from the north.
Many dwellings durng the past, because of the wars, diseases,
fires, earthquakes etc..., were destroyed of deserted, therefore with the
creation of conditions in these dwellings or somewhere close to these
dwellings new buildings were made.
Evvery invader that come have changed toponumics, micro-
toponymics, but also patronymic, by appropriating to their own
language through patricles and also by translating them into their own
into their own language. Nowadays we have dwellings names in many
languages, in invaders language and in local laguage. In this way it eas
acted mos of the tim, tat with the arrival of shaves, in the first phase
thej adapted dwellings names, and then thej transleted them into a
Serbian language, meanwhile inlast centry they made the arbitrary
changes.
Studyiang objects of this book are the dwellings of Ka^anik
Municipality from historical, geographical, demographical aspects
etc... Shortly mentioning, there are some characteristics tha occurred in
dwellings, by including geographical position, extension, families or
districts, some more characteristic microtoponymis, archeological
findings, archival and historical resources, statistical data, population
dislacement oaut of their conty, destructions, murdering etc..., in
dwellings until 1999. The origin inhabitants was not presented, thir
displacement etc..., because for this it is required a complex studing, I
think that the nee generations have to do it, based on these data on
other data too.
Except historical and archival resources, research work on the
field in necessary, because only in this eay the new recource data can
be gathered form lifte and from the population words obout their past
and about the current situation.
This volume will be published o the evel of monographic
studying of dwellings in Kosova.
Research methods tha I have chosen first was the researching ot
archival and literacy documents tha shows data abut the dwellings,
historical and nee resources, direct research of the land in every
dwellings, data gotten from the questionnaires and data from Municipal
Council Authorities.
