PRIZREN BETWEEN THE TWO WORLD WARS
Conclusion
As it was mentioned earlier, Prizren sometime in the pre-Osman and
post-Osman stage and during the Albanian National Rebirth known as a city
with brilliant tradition of the economic planning as well as education culture
immediately after the First World War lost evidently its importance.
The city with the surrounding ultimately felt the burden of the
crushing war and accordingly from this the huge pressure exercised the
pressure up to the genocide scale from the ferocious invader of the Serbian-
Croatian and Slovenian Kingdom, leading by the leading oathed anti-Albanian
by Karagjorgjeq s Dynasty. Starting from this overview of the social and
political circumstances it completely aggravated as a consequence of vicious
Serbian colonization of the city with the surrounding. Prizren lost the image of
a well-known center for cultivating the culture and education much earlier
prior the re-invasion of
1918.
Therefore, the most difficult consequences of the Anarchy System of
corruption and adherence of a policy completely anti-nationalattracted the
Albanian population. Without Albanian Schools, assisted by its democratic
curriculum Albanians in
Kosova
but also the city Prizren with its surrounding,
that after
1919
Xhemijet , exercising even its free learning in the National
Language for the non-Slavpopulation. In this context considering those who
adore the national patriotism were such as Haxhi Ymer
Paçarizi
in Prizren and
Sheh Hilmi Abdylmaliqi-Mala in Rahovec, these authoritative and likable
personalities who after
1920
mostly are kept in the imposed house arrest rather
than making propaganda of their political and education ideas in the national
planning. Particularly the first one the Albanian Schools writing and reading
in mother tongue were prioritized as central factors in order to come out from

the backwardness and ranging Albanians among the environment of civilized
European nations.
Another significant personality who acted in Prizren and the
surrounding, respectively in Zym between the two world wars was a polymath
and above all the most well-known man, Father,
Shtjefèn Gjeçovi,
who liked
education for the Albanian language and the School, too. Inheriting patriotic
ideas from the patriotic and famous epopee of the Albanian National Rebirth
before
1912,
he achieved illegally learning Albanians in Zym without any
distinction of race.
Our National education path in Prizren with the surrounding, later on
will pursue with greater diligence, the most likeable teacher for all,
Mati
Logoreci. The tragic death of
Gjeçovi
will endeavor even more the Shkodran
scholar who came in Prizren who began the establishment of a National
School here. Later on together with the likeable Prizren scholar for all Muslim
and Catholic Albanian, such as
Lazër Lumezi,
Mati
Logoreci would not only
conduct regular teaching lessons in Albanian, but he will be engaged very
hard drafting school texts and school curriculum in Albanian language. There
is no doubt that these two distinctive teachers with their deepest knowledge in
the field of drafting texts in our language as well as the development of
education in Albanian in the masterminded state terror. They contributed up to
the last point for cultivating traditions and national Albanian education in
general and preserving the Albanian education in the most illegal forms in
Prizren and particularly with its surrounding.
It was a long period of time, when after
1920
Prizren with the
surrounding was flooded a violent colonization with Serbs and Montenegrins
from other former regions of Yugoslavia. Since the patriotic activity of
Gjeçovi
and earlier of
Lazër
Lumezi and
Mati
Logoreci became magnificent,
when taking into consideration the fact that fewer schools that existed were
working according to the curriculum of Serb Clique and when the Albanian
language was as anabhorrent language. Furthermore, since
1930/31
local
Government bodies in Prizren remained dissatisfied by the work of the
education staff, because in the schools of the town and the surrounding was
not achieved the efficient result of assimilation of Albanian students. In reality
even though the lessons were held in Serbian the students however remained
Albanians according to language and conviction.
A diligent work to expand the great state power and assimilate the
Albanian population in ancient Prizren was conducting at that time the
classical Serb Orthodox Gymnasium Bogosllavia . Established since
í
871,
importing Clerics with Pan Slavic ideology from Serbian Regions, this
demonian School acted intensively in assimilation, liquidation and massive
migration of Albanians.

From the posed material source as well as from the relevant
bibliography regarding this problem we would like to recall that it would
contradict quite successfully, but with a considerable reserved dozeas
Religious Schools of the Albanian Muslim Community, nor rarely, they used
to operate into houses-private schools known as Mejteps. However,
Meddresses played a progressive role such as
Mehmet
Pasha and
Emin
Pasha
which were placed near the town s Mosque and they were playing the
functioning of preserving the ethnic identity of young people from Prizren
from vicious assimilation by the ferocious Serbian police. In this direction we
have to mention the patriotic activity of Myderriz Abdullah
Effendi
Telaku
and Hasan
Effendi
Nahit.
Certainly in this segment of national survival would assist them also
girls schools, lead by a pedagogue
Sapiente
Çoba as
well as functioning of
the Primary School in Prizren, lead by Mikelangjela
Çoba, Sapiensa s
sister,
who were teaching lessons secretly Albanian language. For sure this school as
well as vocation school for women, of course some Entertainment and Sports
Associations, by illegal activities, till the beginning of the Second World War
and preserving the national Albanian cause here, being constantly prosecuted
by the political-military establishment of a rotten Serb-Croatian-Slovenian
Kingdom.
