Tasks of Philosophy in Life Sciences

The paper discusses the manner how nowadays philosophy interprets its own role
in the context of life sciences. As a first step, the author describes three erroneous
forms of this self-interpretation: a) self-renouncement through imitation, when
philosophy neglects its „work , refusing to examine in a critical manner the meth¬
ods, premises and results of the sciences it works together -with; b) self-renounce¬
ment through conformation, when philosophy subordinates itself to the expecta¬
tions of the market and the politics; c) self-marginalization through escapism,
when philosophy draws back on the field of the basic principles and, through this,
on the field of discussions that can be conducted only in the interior of the phi¬
losophy. In the second part of the study, the author drafts an alternative to this
erroneous forms as an „ethics in application . The essence of this is that problems
are to solve in practice, and philosophy can contribute to this only being aware at
the same time of its own critical competence and of the results of the sciences
and their philosophical relevance.

Changing Images of Nature.
Encounter of the Philosophy of Technology
and the Hermeneutical Philosophy of Science
In the first part of the paper, the author discusses the practice of the natural
sciences in the context of social philosophy, then, he examines the main prob¬
lems of the hermeneutical philosophy of sciences. There are two opposite
fundamental conceptions about science and technology: the first one offers
a totalitarian image, but the second one does not exclude the possibility of
alternative relations to nature. In the opposition of the visions of
Habermas
and Marcuse, the hermeneutic treatment of science reaches a specific signifi¬
cance, because it seems to offer a partial synthesis of the conceptions of the
two thinkers. This is the context in which the author interprets the changes
of the image of the nature which occured in the domain of the quantum
mechanics.

of Exegesis and Interpretation
The paper starts from the opposition between biblical exegesis and herme¬
neutical interpretation, according to which the first recapitulates and recon¬
structs an already revealed content, -while the second simulates and interprets

torical instruments they are evocated through. Then, recapitulating

the author evaluates Hegel s place and role in this history.

Hegel the Theologian.
Basic Motives of Hegelian Philosophy at the Intersection
of the Critique of the Religion in Early Works
and the Spiritual Habit
The study examines the early period, up to
1800,
of Hegel s spiritual develop¬
ment, concentrating on motives that characterize his relation to religion and
Christianity. This approach legitimates itself by the fact that, in the author s
vision, the evolution of the relation to theology and religion is one of the
fundaments of the formation of Hegel s spiritual habit. On the base of this
analyse, the author argues in favour of the continuity of the Hegelian work,
identifying the basis of this continuity in the HegeHan idea that life and reality
are prior to philosophy, and so philosophy has some necessary limits.

The Work of Philosophy
in Richard Rorty s Ironic-Pragmatic Vision
The essay is an interpretation of Richard Rorty s Work Contingency, Irony and
Solidarity, an interpretation that focuses on the opposition and the interactions
of the private and the public sphere, respectively on rethinking the tasks of
the philosophy in the proclaimed post-metaphysical era. After the analyze of
the philosopher s basic concepts, the author examines the problem if Rorty s
philosophy corresponds to the requirements of the post-metaphysical think¬
ing, fixed by the philosopher itself, in other words, if Rorty s liberal
utopia
enters in contradiction with his scepticism toward the Big- Discourse. The au¬
thor s answer is that, conceptually, Rorty does not proceed consequently, but
he remains true to the credo of pragmatist philosophy, according to which
practical efficiency is more important than conceptual consequence.

îşi interpretează rolul propriu în
contextul ştiinţelor vieţii. Ca un prim pas, autorul descire trei forme deficita¬
re ale acestei autointerpretări: a) renunţarea la sine prin imitare, când
filosofia
îşi neglijează „treaba , refuzând să examineze în mod critic metodele, premi¬
sele şi rezultatele ştiinţelor cu care colaborează; b) renunţarea la sine prin
conformare când
filosofia se
subordonează aşteptărilor pieţei şi politicii; c)
auto-marginalizarea prin
escapism,
când
filosofia se
retrage pe tărâmul prin¬
cipiilor de bază şi, prin aceasta, pe tărâmul dezbaterilor ce pot fi purtate
numai în interiorul filosofiei. In a doua parte a lucării autorul schiţează alter¬
nativa acestor modalităţi deficitare ca şi o „etică în aplicare . Esenţa acesteia
este că problemele trebuie soluţionate în practică, iar
filosofia
poate să con¬
tribuie la aceasta numai dacă se îndreaptă spre ştiinţe cu conştiinţa propriei
competenţe critice, în acelaşi timp cunoscând datele ştiinţelor şi clarificând
relevanţa filosofică a acestora.

Viziuni schimbătoare asupra naturii,
întâlnirea filosofiei tehnicii cu
filosofia
hermeneutică a ştiinţei
In prima parte a studiului, autorul abordează practica ştiinţelor naturii în
contextul filosofiei sociale, după aceea examinează principalele probleme ale
filosofiei hermeneutice a ştiinţei. Se opun două concepţii fundamentale ale
ştiinţei şi tehnicii: prima ne oferă o imagine totalitară, a doua însă nu exclude
posibilitatea relaţiilor alternative cu natura. în opoziţia viziunilor lui
Haber¬
mas
şi Marcuse, abordarea hermeneutică a ştiinţei ajunge la o semnificaţie
specială, căci pare a oferi o sinteză parţială a concepţiilor eiborate de cei doi
gânditori. Acesta este contextul în care autorul interpretează schimbările de
viziune care s-au petrecut în domeniul mecanicii cuantice.

concentrându-se asupra motivelor care caracterizează
relaţia

cu religia şi creştinismul. Această abordare se justifică prin
faptul că, potrivit viziunii autoarei, evoluarea relaţiei sale cu teologia şi cu reli¬
gia este unul dintre fundamentele formării constituţiei spirituale
ale lui Hegel.
Cu sprijinul acestor analize autoarea argumentează în favoarea continuităţii
operei hegeliene, identificând baza acestei contiuităţi în ideea hegeliană ca
viaţa, realitatea are prioritate faţă
de filosofie,

ritate, o interpretare care se focusează pe opoziţia şi interacţiunile dintre sfera
privată şi cea publică, respectiv pe regândirea sarcinii filosofiei în era pro¬
clamată a postmetafizicii. In urma analizei conceptelor de bază ale lui Rorty
autoarea examinează problema dacă
filosofia
acestuia corespunde exigenţelor
gândirii postmetafizice, stabilite de filosoful însuşi, cu alte cuvinte, daca utopia
liberală schiţată de Rorty intră în contradicţie cu scepticismul formulat de el
faţă de Marele Discurs. Răspunsul autoarei este că, deşi Rorty nu procedează
consecvent din punct de vedere conceptual, totuşi rămâne fidel crezului filo¬
sofiei pragmatiste, potrivit căruia eficienţa practică este mai importantă decât
consecvenţa conceptuală.
