DoBeS möchte diese Sprachen nicht nur beschreiben, sondern die gesammelten Daten auch der Öffentlichkeit zur Verfügung stellen. Sie sollen für akademische Zwecke (Ethnologie, Geschichte, Linguistik) zur Verfügung stehen, aber auch von Menschen ohne bestimmte Vorkenntnisse der Sprachen und natürlich auch der jeweiligen Sprachgemeinschaft genutzt werden können.
