THOUGHT, CULTURE, IDENTITY
(Summary)
An essay on the history of the subject and the general
principles of the cognitive anthropology, and three com¬
plex research papers on the different topics made together
this book, all of them discussing cultural thought, the con¬
ceptual levels of culture and cultural identity. While the
basic theoretical and methodological issues of the studies
on cultural thought are presented in the introductory es¬
say, other texts feature research results from the explorati¬
ons into different fields of human organization, some of
them carried on by the fieldwork in nowadays Serbia. The
overall goal was to establish the relation between cultural
thinking and cultural identification.
The part named Cultural Heroes deals with cultural
modeling of such figures in traditional culture of Serbs,
Christian cultures in general and in global popular culture
of today, and with cultural symbols with which culturally
modeled heroes supply cultural identities, such as natio¬
nal, religious, local identity, etc.

Уместо закључка
It is followed by the part named Town and Football ,
where the urban topography of the Serbian capital Belgra¬
de is discussed considering its football geography, as the
source of conceptual shaping of the elements which are
built up usually in local identity, or the one considering
football fandom, where cultural evaluations of the diffe¬
rent categories of persons according to their local bac¬
kground are stressed, altogether with symbolism which
particular parts of the town bear for its inhabitants.
Finally, the part named Culture Values and economic
System takes on the notions on different categories of
workers and entrepreneurs in Serbian society in an effort
to explain why some modes of economic production are
favored or disfavored in the discourses of the common pe¬
ople in Serbia, and how personal identification with some
of those modes contributes to the perception of the iden¬
tity of Serbian society in general.
