studií se monografie snaží ukázat, že témata a otázky hospodářských a
politických dějin prochází významnou proměnou, a to jednak na základě
podnětů z příbuzných věd, a jednak na základě aktuálního politického
vývoje a společenských diskusí, a že je tento trend možné vnímat jako
vysoce žádoucí.
Abstract
This collective monograph discusses possible approaches to economic
and political history and tries to demonstrate the benefits of interdiscipli¬
nary perspective and application of the foreign historiography outcomes
on the topics from Czechoslovak history. In chapter one
Radek Soběhart,
Irena Kozmanová a František
Stellner
assess the challenge of so-called
new political history (defined by perspective, not by a topic) for econo¬
mic and political history and assume that this approach might represent
an important impulse both for their closer linkage and for the formulati¬
on of new research subjects. In chapter two Anton Poprik analyses the
politics of the communist regime in Czechoslovakia in
1950-1957
to¬
wards the Roma minority. He concludes that it was a qualitatively new
politics, according to the ideology of the regime after
1948,
but un-
succesful regarding its aims, owing to unsufficient institutional base,
unclarified competencies and disorganized approach. In chapter three
Barbora Šimečková
focuses on the role of advertising in the centrally
planned economy of
1970s
and
1980s
in Czechoslovakia. She compares

the current and that time advertising theories and analyses the practice of
commercials production on the basis of interviews with contemporary
witnesses and the TV-archive. She asserts that the commercial in socia¬
list Czechoslovakia was surprisingly modern and, regarding to certain
structural characteristics of socialism, also positively experienced by the
consumers. In chapter four
Lenka Coufalíková
presents the trend of
„business history and examines the education in the
Baťa
Company in
the
1920s
and
1930s.
She considers the company s activities in this field
very innovative and shows the systematic effort of the company to im¬
plement foreign experience. According to her opinion this educational
system contributed to a great extent to the company s success. In chapter
five
Pavla Kačmárová
discusses the applying possibilities of so-called
environmental history in the economic and social history research and
observes on this basis the infiltration of environmental culture into the
Western society of the
1970s
showing as example the case of the The
Greens-party (Die
Grünen)
establishment in the FRG. In the sixth
chapter
Marek
Vokoun
adresses
both the potential and limits of so-called
cliometrics and applying econometric models on the research on econo¬
mic history. He assesses the historical attempts of using this approach,
the criticism on them, different views in the US and Europe and the
actual stand of research. By means of theoretical articles and case studies
this monograph tries to show that the subjects and questions of economic
and political history are experiencing a significant change, partly as a
result of incentives from related sciences, partly as a result of actual poli¬
tical evolution and social debates, and that this development is to be
perceived as highly desirable.
