Beschreibung:"The first music book printed typographically in America. ... Isaiah Thomas was probably the compiler, but no ostensible editor appears until the sixth edition, published in 1797, when Oliver Holden was engaged by Thomas to supervise that edition. It was the most popular music book of its period, and had numerous imitators."--Evans. - Contains parts I and II only. "A few copies of the first and second part of this work, will, by request, be printed separately, in order to accommodate a few schools, which are at present destitute of books. The third part is now in the press, and will be published with all possible expedition."--Advertisement on verso of title page, dated: Worcester, January, 1796. - Evans, 19752. - Part III was advertised as "just published" in the Worcester magazine for the second week of May 1786. Evans mistakenly reports that the third part was not published until 1787
