Beschreibung:"Free translation of 'Der durch Europa un Amerika aufmerksam Reisende. In Absicht zu suchen wahre Kinder Gottes,' which was printed in Altona in 1777. The German edition of 1777 has the caption-title 'Germanton Anno 1761,' probably indicating where the little allegory was written. The anonymous author was a learned man, born in Altona, Germany. He became a preacher, suffered persecution, and came to America with some of his followers about the year 1750. He settled in Leacock Township, Lancaster county, Pennsylvania, with the sect 'Die Stillen im Lande' also called 'Die Neubegorenen' or the 'Newborn' (see Appendix of the 'Travels, p. 10-11). Possibly printed by Solomon Mayer in Ephrata."--Doll & Funke. The Ephrata cloisters, 1944, p. 124. - Evans, 25114
