Kamendin, one of the smaller demesnes of the
family Dundjerski, was not the most important one in the
creation of their wealth, however, it certainly had a rather
significant role, especially, when his elderly son Djoka
became the beneficiary of that very inheritance by the
will of his father
Lazar
Dundjerski, in
1917.
After World
War I, at the time of the agrarian reform, he maintained to
preserve the
demense in a
great deal, for according to the
statutory provisions of the time there was a possibility for
the owners of the large estates, especially those of Serbian
nationality, to attain the right to keep up to five hundred
acres each if they improved the agriculture on the above
mentioned demenses, kept the horse farms on them and
founded the plants that would process agricultural raw
materials, as well. Djoka Dundjerski, as a very capable
and energetic businessman at that time, managed to take
advantage of the right and preserve a part of the real estate
that his father had entrusted him. He even had a feeling
that the previosly mentioned real estate was the place
where the raw material for the serum factory
Kamendin
should be founded. At that time, it was the only one in
this part of the Balkan peninsula and not accidentaly in
Novi Sad,
along with the factory Kulpin , also founded
in the above mentioned city, that were dealing with the
agricultural products processing, first under the name
of
Prunus. A
great importance was also given to the
advertising of Dundjerski products which, at the time

being,
was a kind of today s marketing. Djoka Dundjerski
was also responsible for the organization of the exhibition
shows and one of the founders of the
Novi Sad
Fair. His
exemplary real estate Kamendin^ serum factory, as well
as the factory for fruit and vegetable canning were quite
often visited by the students of Agricultural Faculties from
all around the former Republics of Yugoslavia. After the
War his entire property was seizured due to the allegedly
comercial
cooperation with the occupier, because his
companies were manufacturing food for the enemy
army . The nationalized Kamendin continued its life
and its manifacture in, at that moment, entirely different
circumstances
.
