Theory and Applications
David Mateiyenu Nanang
Dr. David Mateiyenu Nanang was born and raised in
Northern Ghana, Africa. He received his elementary educa¬
tion in Bunkpurugu and secondary school education at Notre
Dame Minor Seminary in Navrongo, and Nandom Secondary
School in the Upper West Region. In
1992,
after earning a first
class B.Sc. in Natural Resources Management from the
Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology
(KNUST).
Kumasi, Ghana; he subsequently pursued a M-Se In Forestry, specializ¬
ing in Silviculture and Forest Biometrics, which he completed in
1996
from
Lakehead University in Canada. In
2002,
he obtained a Ph-D. in Forest
Economics (with a minor specialization in Natural
Resources and Environmental Economics) from the
University of Alberta in Edmonton. Alberta, Canada.
Dr. Nanang has extensive experience in several aspects of
try, including: silviculture, ecology, forest management.

forest and climate change policy, forest economics and research.
He worked in Ghana with the erstwhile Forestry Department
and taught forestry at the University for Development Studies
in Tamale, the capital of the Northern Region of Ghana. He
was a sessional lecturer of forest policy and research asso¬
ciate at the University of Alberta. Dr. Nanang also worked
as a forest economist for the Canadian Forest Service, a
senior policy advisor on land management issues with
Indian and Northern Affairs Canada, and is currently
science research director with the Canadian Forest
Service of Natural Resources Canada He is an
adjunct professor of Forest Economics at the Faculty of
Forestry at the University of Toronto,
Canada He has published extensively in
internationally reputable journals on
forestry and natural resource
economics, including being
the senior editor of the
seminal book on natural
resources
