ABSTRACT:
The research compares and analyzes the European Studies programmes
in
17
universities from
9 EU
member countries and the Western Balkans
with approximately
1200
students in the three education-qualification
degrees
-
Bachelor, Master and Doctor. The forming and developing of euro
political and euro cultural attitudes are outlined through the instruments
of increasing quality of higher education and learning good practices in
the context of the Bologna process and the strategy of the „Europe
2020"
Community. The investigation of university education in European Studies
is accomplished in a few aspects: in five
EU
member countries
-
Belgium, the
Netherlands, France, Slovenia and Bulgaria, as well as four countries in the
territories of the Western Balkans
-
Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina
and Kosovo. Through surveys, questionnaires, interviews, observation,
analysis of accreditation documents, comparing models, principles and
educational aims, a relatively reliable expertise of the structure and
content of the academic programmes is achieved, about the methods and
forms of teaching; about the specifics in teaching, professors, experts and
practitioners, who participate in the educational process, evaluation systems,
academic environment, models of organizing training courses and practices,
the applied and pragmatic aspect of knowledge, career development,
feedback from trainees and graduated students. A conclusion has been
made based upon the ideas and possibilities of increasing the recognition
of the universities and quality of university European Studies. European

STUDIES AND EUROPEAN VALUE ATTITUDES
m
dimensions and possibilities of academic policies have been sought, in order
to ensure a greater territorial and regional cohesion. The research indicates
the opportunities of intensifying academic and research instruments and
resources in education and practical preparation of European Studies
students, as well as the development of networks for academic and research
cooperation, activation of a public-private communication and successful
student realization on the labor market. Using various interdisciplinary
methods of research the perspectives of creating a model for sustainable
development of academic and research capacity in Bulgaria are outlined.
