leksander Bregman was one of these man who
had amazing professional abilities and these thing
which we cold sixth sense. He was also very talented, and he took the advantage of
connecting things which were his job and hobby. This book shows life and work of
Aleksander
Bregman as publicist and journalist. Undoubtedly he was one of the best
Polish political affairs correspondent and journalist of XX century. His over 40-ty
years professional activity started in beginning of 2O-ty years of XX century, in the ti¬
roes of II Republic of Poland, and finished in
1967
when he died. Summit time for his
work careers fallen on time of Second World War and on time after. In time of war he
emigrated to London when he became creator of Polish emigration diaspora, he was
active part of Polish intelligence environment. He was co-author of new current in
Polish culture which was alternative for soviet culture in Poland at that time.
He connect his career with work for League of Nations. From
1932
he worked
as correspondent of Polish Telegraphic Agency and
Gazeta Polska
in head office
League of Nations in Geneva.
After he came back to Poland in years
1935-1939
he was redactor of foreign sec¬
tion of Express
Poranny
in Warsaw. He continue and developed his interests. He
wrote about most actual things form international political stage. At this time he
took duty of press advisor Foreign Minister
Józef
Beck. Because of the work he vis¬
ited many countries in the world, while journeys he saw and took part in important
political and social events connected with Poland, and

1949
he join Polish Armed Forces in France where he graduated Artillery
Cadet School. After evacuation to Great Britain as artillerist he came to Scotland. In
1942
he got nomination on second lieutenant. During his staying in Scotland he was
co-
redactor of
Nowiny Pierwszej Brygady Strzelców ,
which was addressed to Pol¬
ish soldiers, and then also
Dziennik Żołnierza
in Glasgow. From January
1944
r.
after connect two titles
Dziennik Żołnierza
with
Dziennik Polski
he became re¬
dactor of foreign section and then the main publicist of
Dziennik Polski i Dziennik
Żołnierza
in London.
Before and after Second World War he took part in over
50
international confer¬
ences, in Geneva, Lausanne, Paris, San Francisco and London. He was the only Polish
journalist who took part in all process of foundation United Nations Organization in
San Francisco, from April to end of June
1945
(he was deputy of Polish Telegraphic
Agency,
Dziennik Polski i Dziennik Żołnierza
and Ministry of
Information and
Documentation, and unofficial ambassador of polish affairs).
After Second World War he stayed in Great Britain as redactor of
Dziennik .
From end of October
1945
until half
1962
he was redactor-in-chief of that title. He
publicized among others in Londonian
„Wiadomości
and Parisian
„Kultura .
He also
was for many years redactor in Polish Radio Free Europe. He also wrote to foreign
press in English and French to magazines and newspapers British, French, Swiss, and
German as „Scotsman „Daily Telegraph , „Times , „Tribune
de
Geneve .
He put his texts in American magazines and journals among others in: „Modern
Age ; „The Reporter ; „Western Word . He wrote about subjects which he good knew,
about European problems after war, Polish-German relations and Polish-Russian re¬
lations. He wrote also about questions connected with soviet domination in Eastern
and Middle Europe.

one of few Polish publicists who was good known and appreciated beyond Polish

Aleksander
Bregman
was active person on many ways of his profession. There was lot of people who knew
about it and admire his involvement in issues connected with Poland. Before II world

for many years he was chairman and vice-chairman of The Polish Journalists Asso¬
ciation.
