This book is for every educator and trainer —whose computer
skills may be limited —who wants to understand the Internet
educationally, and use it in his or her courses.
The authors provide a framework and a hands-on introduction to
what s involved, from adapting existing materials and teaching
styles for the Web, to developing a virtual course. They present
the key educational concepts for adapting teaching methods and
materials to the medium of the Internet, as well as the basic
Internet skills required.
The framework starts from the premise that educators should
progressively apply Internet technology as their skills and
confidence grow; develops the concept of teaching
styles —supplementing traditional teaching with Internet based
options; and demonstrates the use of modules as the building
blocks for Web based learning.
The book abounds with inspiring and thought-provoking examples
of Internet course materials developed by a wide variety of
educators and trainers across many disciplines, including modules
and forms created by the authors themselves.
The Editors are all affiliated with Southwest Texas University
at San Marcos, Texas.
