SUMMARY
The time of change.
Občanské fórum
(Civic Forum) in
Trutnov
from
1989
to
1991
After twenty years it seems that there is an urgent need to return
to „velvet revolution from the end of the year
1989
in our regions
and not just to its history but also to a deeper reflection on its course
and results.
The author describes the activity of
Občanské fórum
/OF/
Trutnov
during the years
1989 - 1991.
He
devides
this time into
four stages. The first stage concerns the period from 17th November
to the end of the year
1989,
the second one includes the time from
the beginning of
1990
to the parliamentary elections taken in June.
Then follows the third stage that is closed with local elections in
November
1990
and the last stage is about the time of
desintegration
of OF that ends in spring
1991.
OF is the conglomerate of non-communist political parties and
civic movements. Also in
Trutnov
region its aim was to eliminate
the leading role of the Communist party of Czechoslovakia
(KSČ),
then the realization of free elections, the asserting of human
rights, freedom of the press etc. Its inner life was certainly not
easy and painless, on the contrary there were conflicts between
different streams. But after all the agreement on basic problems
and their solutions was reached, for example on the purge of local
authorities, the management of firms, institutions and media. One
of the important results of activity of OF and other political subjects
in
Trutnov
was the transfer of Soviet military crew from
Trutnov
in
August
1990.
History of OF in
Trutnov
and its region belongs to the highlights
in modern history of
Trutnov
region, but still it is necessary to study
it and deepen our knowledge.
