Zusammenfassung: | Communication is defined as an interaction between at least two living agents which share a repertoire of signs. These are combined according to syntactic and semantic rules in varying contexts in order to transport information. This volume deals with the important roles of soil bacteria in parasitic and symbiotic interactions with plants, animals and fungi. Starting with a general overview on the key levels of communication of bacteria further reviews examine the various aspects of the intracellular as well as the intercellular biocommunication of soil microorganisms. This includes the various levels of biocommunication of phages, of beneficial microbes that drive growth and development of plants, between soil algae and bacteria, bacteria and fungi, in the rhizosphere, the role of plasmids and transposons, phage mediated genetic exchange, soil viral ecology, horizontal gene transfer, bacterial-host cohabitation, quorum sensing and quorum quenching. |
