Despite being the smallest country within the African continent, Gambia
is home to more than
1.7
million people and is one of the most densely
populated countries in Africa. Defined by borders that reflect the route of
its namesake, the Gambia River, Gambia is a fascinating and ethnically
diverse nation.
This title in the Culture and Customs of Africa series examines the
traditions and customs of contemporary Gambia, a geographically tiny
nation in the vast landscape of Africa that is home to a large number
