Azem Shkreli)
Resume
Azem
Shkreli for more than forty years was active in
Albanian literature. During this time his literary creativity is
developed continuously uninterrupted.
Almost at the same time the creator was presented with
the poetry volume Bulzat
(1960)
and the novel Karvani
і
bardhë
(1961),
but while with poetry had begun several years
before they emerge with particular book and in the years
following would also wrote seven other volumes of poetry,
almost every decade of the two, only the end of his creativity
will once again turn this novel, when will revise it in the
90s.
But to judge by order of the poems in
Azem
Shkreli
s
poetry volumes, his first poem is Vargjet
shtegtarë
(in poetry
volume
Bulëzat,
1960),
while the latest
Këngë e turpshme
(it
is published as posthumous work Zogj dhe
gurë ,
1997).
Poet who directs his verses to fly in the most remote cor¬
ners of the world, in his first poetry, with the message: Kli-
thmat
e krisura
shurdhoni me jehun tuaj! ends with
këngën e
turpshme , expressing his inability stand to help his homeland.
Between these two poems lies poetic creativity of
Azem
Shkreli
for more than forty years, in eight volumes with more than

poems, in which through his verses emerges his special poetic
ego.
Although proved in three literary genres: lyric, epic and
dramatic, but also with writing essays,
Azem Shkreli
remains
one of the greatest lyrics of Albanian literature of the second
half of the twentieth century. Together with D. Agolli, Ismail
Kadaré,
Fatos
Arapi, Din Mehmeti, Ali
Podrimja, etc., is the
group that will mark the Albanian poetry of this time.
Azem
Shkreli, in each decade of his creativity comes with
a high poetic work.
Thus, in the
60s

which were published in Albania during that time.
Poetry volume Bulzat of
Ażem
Shkreli was among the
first volumes of poetry in the post-World War II, a decade and a
half after had begun to organize an institutional life of Alba¬
nians. The title of this volume coincided with the beginnings of
Albanian in
Kosove,
marked here as bines, which are in the
same time bines of author s poetry which at this time was
young, and this book was the first volume of his poetry.

Two first volumes, Bulzat and Engjujt
e
rrugëve ,
in
which have taken place poems written in the 50s and early
60s,
marking the beginnings of poetic creativity of
Azem
Shkreli. In
these two volumes,
Azem
Shkreli with one leg stands in poetry
tradition and with the other in socialist realism; in the first with
poetry for hometown, while in the second with the poem of war,
then in it for the peoples struggle for freedom etc.
In poems of this time dominates
neoromantic
tones, while
his style is still not stabilized.
It is interesting that, while he writes poems about the
struggle of African peoples against colonialism, in his poetry of
this time is missing poetry with the theme of displacement of
Albanians in Turkey, motivations that come across in the poetry
of Esad Mekulit, Enver Gjerqekut, Din Mehmeti or any other
poet. Also, quite rare in his poetry, is poetry of
sočila
moti¬
vations, that was part of Albanian poetry of the time, whether
the influence of Migjeni in this poem, either by low economic
growth and social development of the country.
However, as continuity, but rather as qualitative upswing,
following volumes are considered

70s .
His poetry at this time takes neosymbolist direction
and his style ranges being stabilized and established his poetic
individuality.
The transition from the third volume in the fourth is the
transfer to a new artistic sensibility of the poet. Now the scrip¬
ture of Bible for silence takes the place of enthusiasm of po¬
ssession of knowledge on the stone s floor. And returning to
himself, unlike the world s output, which occurs in the first
volume, comes in response to the destructive forces which aim
deviance, alienation, or worse, destruction of the lyrical subject.

While the last four volumes, which in itself incorporate
the creativity of the poet of the last two decades of the twentieth
century, may be considered as a last phase, in which the poet,
poetry and time are transformed into one. At this time, espe¬
cially with the
Kënga e hutinit ,
the poet reaches the pinnacle
of his poetry, which marks one of the highest peaks in the
today s Albanian poetry.
In these volumes the poetry of
Azem Shkreli
goes through
new experiences. It is this experience of the
80s.
Kënga e
hutinit , dhe
Nata e
papagajve become so marker of this de¬
cade. Meanwhile, the
90s
is found in
Lirikë me
shi and Zogj
dhe
gurë .
Not only in the tissue of his verse, but also in verse, in
poems, poetry cycles and in the name of his volumes of poetry,
Azem
Shkreli contrasting inserts.
Thus, in the second volume Engjujt
e rrugëve
in the

things. Does the Bible is where there is the silence? After the

The Bible begins with the sentence: In the beginning was
the Word , which means that the word is essentially of the

Shkreli source have
a different bible, the bible of silence, where silence is not is the
opposite of the Word, because here the Bible and silence create
a opositional synthagma

In the fifth
volume
of
Kënga
e
hutinit
-
in
opposition
come
hutini and song. Does hutini sings? If his voice is the
song heard at night, which may be the message of this song ?
In volume
Lirikë
me shi , lyrics and rain lyrics sign two
opposites: the first poetry, prose second (boredom), but, depen¬
ding on the context, rain comes even with other meanings.
Azem
Shkreli s poetry is multistrate. Among the most
important
strates
of this poem is Albanian archaic discourse,
then part of this discourse is also biblical discourse that is also a
strate
of Albanian language itself, but in poetic discourse of
Shkreli gets new semantic connotations. In his string intersects
biblical wisdom of ancient Albanian verbin with classical
poetry to modern poetics. Naturally.
Poet, along creative decades, migrate through the array of
free and bound it, through images and semantic figures, through
strophaic a,nd non-strophaic poetry.
This poem is like the cosmos, that as the man, as much as
penetrate deep into it, the more discretionary becomes.The
same happens with poetry of
Azem
Shkreli: as its surface
remains in the reader, feels himself more confident, and how to
penetrate deeper into it launches security decreases. Summary:
This is the world of the poet, in which the reader must come
with love, dedication and knowledge.
However, in terms of prose, no matter
Azem
Shkreli in
creating novel White Caravan followed an indirect route,
different from other writers, the result appears the same novels
were written at that time for war.
While with the novel he promised arrival of a talented
prose writer in Albanian literature, in
1965,
will appear in front
of the reader with a volume of stories very interesting for time
in which they were written. The book

in a new light, in the field of storyte¬
lling. He now has experience of writing in prose, but also life
experience, that lacked during the time he wrote the novel
White Caravan.
As for the novel Karvani

bardhë ,
with the first version
and the last one, writer will give a message, which will affect
the reader. Message of the first is that of drama Fosilet , while
the latest version of Karvani
і
bardhë ,
this second version
remains a slave of the first version. The author could not be
released, to treat freely the subject of the novel on his resume.
As in the first version and in the second, Shkreli put the
message out of context passing Albanian society at that time.

(1961),
which in addition to comprehensive amendments and changes
that made it, he changed the message. From the first message

exclusively on poetry, and since the
60s
when he published the
book with stories
Sytë e Evës
was not taken with the prose,
up in the
90s
when rewroted the novel of youth.
Far from ideology, writer is with the stories
Sytë e
Ev¬
es , which for the most part treats topics related to general
aspects of life, while also introduces some of their themes of
controversy between the new that is borning and the old that is
turning. Triumph of the tractor to govern, which is found in a
story of his, returns to methonimy of the glories of the new
against the old.
Although, though sluggish, his prose is unique in Alba¬
nian literature.

express the traumas of war, but also remember the time when
the characters, who are of different nationalities: Albanians,
Serbs, etc.. were in the same position against invaders.
But while the writer s goal was the same in both dramas,
in the latter he writes a play-leaning avant-garde.
Besides lyrics, prose and drama,
Azem
Shkreli, especially
in the beginning of his literary creativity and its end, was
oriented on essaystics.
His writing essays in the
60s
had more literary character.
Azem
Shkreli deal with problems at the time of literary
creativity, with an interview with the creator, etc., while in
90s
the topic of his writing essays are essentially national issue, the
discriminatory position of
Kosova,
but also for the Albanian
cause in general and cultural circumstances.
With a piece of his poetry, then the novel Karvani
і
bardhë
dramas Fosilet and
Varri
i qyqes ,
and the revised
version of the novel Karvani
і
bardhë , but
especially to the
writings of the early essays
90,
Azem
Shkreli answered directly
on the time in which lived, namely the problems of the time.
The language of the author in writing essays is often
ironic, when expressesfor the abnormalities that accompany the
Kosovar
society, but also stigmatizing when criticizing the
shortcomings of the inherited, as is the trend Albanian feudal
prince, but even those flaws that surfaced in our time as
mediocrity, burokratism etc.
Azem
Shkreli in his writing essays appeared engaged
intellectual figure, the man who lived intensely with the fate of
his people in abnormal situations. He, except that the expe¬
rienced such a heavy reality, except that commits to put the
word with which to designate this reality, not rare throw ideas

on how to face difficult situation easier, how to handle a
situation such. But his ideas remain more at the proposals, they
remain just ideas, because the bureaucracy created in the state
of slavery, or the political class of the time, did not respond to
ideas which in his writings of the poet suggests.
Criticism has followed the work of
Azem
Shkreli,
devotion times with times less, since the first publication of
poetry, then the first volume of poetry Bulzat to last Zogj
dhe
gurë .
His work has awakened the curiosity of ongoing
criticism, but if we look more deeply, observe that by part of
the criticism has tended to leave left out the poet, while his
place reserved to others, who are not on his level. This trend is
still present, no matter who in
2006
was published the set of his
work, but without any commitment that deserves this poet.
While in terms of readership, the work of
Azem
Shkreli
always been greeted with interest. It is read by readers of
different levels. In schools were recitated his poetry and two of
his dramas were played on the stage of National Theatre, but
also in the theater district towns.
Finally with convince we say that his work will remains
in the Pantheon of new Albanian literature and will remain
bright heritage for young generation.
