Summary
Roma are a permanent, integral part of culture and society of
West
Pomerania.
In the background, the specific political, social
and economic region after
1945
year Roma were present at first
as the alluvial group from Polish central and eastern land stabi¬
lizing its colonization only for years
50
and
60
th century as a re¬
sult of administrative decisions of authorities of the
PRL
-
the
Polish People s Republic. Regardless of the Gypsy population
has preserved its cultural origin, also significantly distinguished
from the majority society by doing their typical and traditional oc¬
cupations. The process of modernization of the Roma in Western
Pomerania,
which ran from the end of World War II ran in parallel
to similar phenomena among the Gypsy population in other parts
of the country. At the same time Polish-Rom neighborhood was
more contacts „beside rather than „with them of both groups,
largely at the request of the Roma, for obvious reasons, wishing to
maintain their cultural autonomy. Hence the lack of success of the
first organized Assimilation shares held by the Polish authorities
in the
50
th century. These actions are based most favorable as¬
sumptions for the Gypsy population was characterized by dismal
performance is not supported by appropriate diagnosis specificity
of Polish Rom, as the years have a negative strain on bilateral re¬
lations for the period. While it is difficult to resist the impression
that the assimilation and modernization west of
Pomorze
Rom isn t
still a completed process, what s more a challenge for the coming

years aimed at young people, open to each of the two generations
of the community informed and ready to exploit the rich legal and
institutional opportunities offered by the Polish State
-

of The
EU,
serving the mutual closeness and the cognition.
In this context, it is essential to the beauty and rich, but at the
same time undermining the anachronistic tradition of the Roma not
only contacts with the Poles, but also functioning in contemporary
social realities-economic. Barrier notice Rom more boldly taking
the discussion on how to reconcile their cultural identity with the
full activity of the public, social, educational and professional. Re¬
solving this issue will be one of the most important for the fate
and shape of the Roma community in Western
Pomerania
to the
increasing aspirations of Roma youth wishing to train and work.
It is impossible to notice the enormous work done on that same
side Roma community of West
Pomerania
after
1989
year, espe¬
cially in the first years of the twenty-first century. After
2000
year
dates back to the beginning of the activities of a number of Roma
organizations from
Szczecinek ZRP
headed, finally after
2004
year
we observe an increasingly effective recourse and the use of aid
funds by Rom wide stream flowing mainly from
EU
funds. Hence,
special attention should be paid to measures aimed at a broad inte¬
gration into society and to improve the vast majority, the poor situ¬
ation of the material-household appliances. In any large population
of Roma in the West:
Szczecinek, Białogard, Swidwin, Pyrzyce,
Szczecin and
Świnoujście
work in this area more visible Roma as¬
sociations. The recognition is also necessary to assess their activity
in the area cultivated and support, through a wide range of cultural
activities, the Rom tradition, and finally more effective action to re¬
solve the basic problem of west of
Pomorze
Rom what is the need
to raise the level of education.
At the same time you cannot escape the impression that the
Polish-Rom coexistence within the West
Pomerania
is arranged
without any major problems what in the scale of the country isn t
an exception perhaps but it is nevertheless positive, noteworthy
example. Coexistence concerns the most smaller cities and towns

which are regional clusters where the Roma population that feels
domesticate, often integrated with the environment and the local
community. Not without significance is the specificity of the re¬
gion as the Recovered Territories in
1945

where everyone,
not only Rom-Gypsy was new and everyone on an equal footing
can feel the creator of a new social fabric of these territories. So
Gypsies, are continuously present in Western
Pomerania
since the
end of World War II, are seen by most as a natural part of the envi¬
ronment and reality. So we don t assert any known conflicts of the
wider Polish-Rom, on the contrary, the activities of the Polish-Rom
social cooperatives in
Szczecinek
and
Sławnie
is an excellent ex¬
ample of bilateral cooperation and deepening integration. None
conflict with the majority doesn t limit the persistent internal di¬
visions and animosities. Feature not only west of
Pomorze
Rom,
there are substantial territorial diversification and Pedigree. They
don t constitute a group with a strong inner identity. So you can
see the internal divisions and contradictions arising from the usual
rivalry for influence and authority in the environment. An example
of this state of affairs may be a dispute Chojnacki
-
Trojan, which
took place in
Szczecinek.
It seems, that the Province West Rom population extremely well
is found in the socio-political reality. Positive confirmation of the
identification process with the majority is high and growing ac¬
tivity of public organizations of Roma in Western
Pomerania.
This
way will inevitably fade substantially, the eternal problem of the
Polish-Rom contacts elementary ignorance concerning this com¬
munity. Rom are becoming not only sustainable but increasingly
open and get to know element of west of
Pomorze
reality.
